TAG Heuer CAF2011.FT8011 wrist watches news:
Hi everyone. I'm looking to get my dad a watch, for under $1000. Which models would you recommend I look at? Also, can you briefly describe the pros and cons of your recommendations? It would be good if you can use layman terms, cause I'm a total watch newbie . Lastly, should I buy online, or from a store? It seems websites like watchzone are about 30-50% cheaper than stores, but is there anything I should watch out for? TIA.
Hello all,Just to share a piece of info I picked up along the way and invite any similar experiences.I recently found out that if your hour markers/hands on your omega are becoming dull or almost non existent you can apparently re-charge them by shining a bright light into the face for a few seconds.I have tried with a bright torch (only thing I could think of to do the job) which did brighten the dials up a bit but did not seem to make any permanent improvement.Has anyone else got any experience or similar tips ?As always feedback greatly appreciated.Paul
Earlier on i read this on watch club...Until 1976, Rolex would punch the year of production on the inside of the clasp, preceded by the Roman numeral denoting which quarter of the year it was produced, so, when we see the clasp code IV 68 we know that it was produced in the 4th quarter of 1968. From ¡®76 onwards though the year was replaced with a lettering system (in a similar fashion to the case numbering system adopted in 1987). If the letter is prefixed with an ¡®S¡¯ it indicates if is a service replacement.I purchased a 116610LN last June brand new from my local AD, and my clasp number is S2Q, does that mean my watch has a replacement bracelet? Please help me on this one.Daniel Watson.
I was never really into watches or in fact any form of jewellery. My first watch was a birthday gift Timex which I wore as a child for a few months before losing it. The second watch I ever bought was a Longines lady quartz watch for my wife in which to celebrate a new job, she loved it and wore it every day and when I got and even bigger break in 2008 I vowed to get her something more expensive. This was my first introduction to Rolexmmedia/Mobile%20Uploads/22E6DFBC-7CE1-40F6-928B-423D34C224D5_zpswzx6m95s.jpg.html" target="_blank">18months later she persuaded me to get a 116234 and whilst initially reluctant to wear anything on my wrist I, after 4 years of daily wear therein started my journey with TRF and luxury watches. I¡¯ve had the good fortune to own and wear many fantastic brands and still own some today. In a collection of 8 (2 of which are owned by my wife) I/we own 3 Rolex and 5 other brands. 3 rolex keepers from a total of 12 Rolex and 22 other brands that have passed thr
Here's a little something to steam Ed's tail (and also the rest of you GMT lovers). The following is a 1973 Rolex ad for the Red Sub 1680, supposedly featuring Thor Heyerdahl and his Ra II expedition. However, the guy in the photo with the sextant is not Thor, it's Capt. Norman Baker, Thor's navigator, and Norman wasn't given a Sub, he was given an engraved GMT 1675 (which he showed to me in March). What gives? Did they have Photoshop back in 1973?
