Master Watchmaker Derek Pratt Passes Away
Derek Pratt, one of the world’s leading watchmakers, has passed away following a long illness. Derek was a watchmaker’s watchmaker and a true scientist of horology. He was often cited as among the greatest living watchmakers, his name mentioned in the same breath as George Daniels, Philippe Dufour, and other modern legends. Derek is also acknowledged as an important influence by many of today’s younger horological stars. Derek was born in Orpington, Kent, in England in 1938. Between 1955 and 1959, he attended the National College of Horology in London. Following his formal education, Derek served as an apprentice at Smith & Sons. In 1965 he moved to Switzerland. Jazzmaster Father's Day Gift
My lovely wife has given me a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic as a father's day gift. My first "grownup" watch. I couldn't be happier.However, I noticed a few peculiarities that I thought I'd share with the group and solicit feedback. The packaging that accompanies the watch is incorrect. The box has a sticker which indicates that it is for a Khaki Officer model, not the Jazzmaster that I received.Also, when I research the model number inscribed on the back of the watch "H324550", all of the search results are from China. Furthermore, when I go to the Hamilton web site, I cannot locate a watch that exactly visually matches the one that I received.If it wasn't for the fact that it was purchased from a reputable local jeweler, I would be suspicious about its authenticity.So my questions for the group are:1) Is it unreasonable for me to return to the place of purchase and request the correct packaging (box) for this watch?and2) Is model H324550 so rare that I would not expect to find any En

Just picked up a Speedmaster... need help with model number.
I just picked up this Speedy today but unfortunately it did not come with box or cards. It's a 42mm Mechanical movement with a Hesalite crystal. Serial number is 77 million. I was thinking that this was a 3570.50? Hoping someone can help me confirm this model number. Many thanks TRFs!!!. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
