TAG Heuer CJF1310.BA0580 wrist watches news:
Though most probably know Squale from their affordable Submariner homages, we at worn&wound are fans of the brand for an entirely different reason. There's no denying that the watch world today is obsessed with everything "heritage." Prices for vintage pieces have gone up, long-gone companies are being brought back from the dead (with little to no connection to the past), and countless established brands are digging into their archives to revive discontinued models and designs. Despite the effort, it all feels a bit disingenuous, with marketing departments clearly playing up heritage to sell consumers stories that, more often than not, aren't true. Squale is different.Squale's history stretches back to 1948, when dive enthusiast Charles Von Buren first began assembling watches in Neuchatel, Switzerland. The brand saw some serious growth under his tutelage, and throughout the 60s and 70s Squale was a respected leader in the dive watch world (in fact, a number of brands, from Doxa to
This week, vintage watches are back in full force. In this Bring A Loupe you will find some heavy hitters, starting with a coveted Rolex "Pre-Daytona" with a black dial. Also expect to see an outstanding Heuer Skipper, an original Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic, and an unusual Type 20 from an unexpected source. Finally, a great Universal Geneve Tri-Compax just came back on eBay, but maybe not for the better. This is your Bring A Loupe for March 25, 2016. A Rolex 'Pre-Daytona' Reference 6238 With Coveted Black Dial 1 OF 8 The reference 6238 is often considered as the starting point of the Daytona line, as it displayed the modern-looking dials that can then be found in the first Daytona, the reference 6239. The 6238, nicknamed the Pre-Daytona, was launched in the early 1960s, only three years before the introduction of the reference 6239 ¨C the first actual Daytona ¨C that Ben described in depth here. The dial layout of these two references is almost identical, and
What is your opinion on this watch? And for Mont Blanc in general?I have an offer to buy this watch from a friend.Pre-owned,but in excellent condition..the price is 300 Euros(but negotiable)Should I go for it?
Well, I just received something I never thought I'd buy (based on cost) but I got it today and I can say it is amazing. I've never seen a diagonal bracelet which I suppose is one of a couple variances of their bracelets for the Colt GMT (which one is best;) this one is more comfortable than any bracelet I've worn. The finish on the watch is really nice and of a caliber I have not seen before. The person before me must have worked in a pillow factory because there isn't a scratch on the watch and it looks very well cared for. I uploaded some nice pictures for your viewing enjoyment. So here is my unveiling, I was too excited to do the whole thing but here goes:My OHAS for you GYou can see some of the nice details on the dial here:The Bracelet (everything okay with it? Want to ensure authenticity before leaving my feedback)The cool engraved backI like the size, I thought it'd be a lot bigger but I'm really pleased with the size:Lume Shots:
I'm not seeking sympathy from my friends here at WTF, but rather I just want to vent some thoughts or whatever. It's been rough this past month, so much that I've forgotten to strap on any of my time pieces. A co-worker / friend of 16yrs died of cancer at the young age of 37 yrs old on Feb. 19, 2009. I was his immidiate supervisor at work 4 1/2 years ago, when the brain tumor took him unconcious and made him fall flat against the concrete floor, I got the ambulance there as quickly as possible, I rode to the hospital with him and waited for his wife to arrive. That was the very first sign of Chris's illness. . His passing last month was heart wrenching. Chris Boman left two young children. Again this past Saturday another friend has left us. A Harley riding buddy of mine commited suicide, the hurt is still fresh. Dee was in a similar situation as myself in life with marriage. I still don't know all the details of how the demons took him, but he's now gone, and again I had forgotten t
