Hello All,I joined WTF a few weeks ago but have not posted as much as I planned to (yet). Just wanted to say the Omega forum is very interesting and informative. I read most of the post on the front page today and found it good conversation. Here's a shot of my 2. Have a great weekend!
So, it appears that we have two issues bubbling on the forum. One is the feared departure of the company from the tried and true model lines into new design territory and the other is timebender's out-of-box failure of his new Boulton.Do these developments shake anyone's confidence in Hamilton watch?
I pulled the trigger on a VERY cool Gruen. I've never seen a dial like this on a Gruen before which is why I bought it. Another reason why I was drawn to it was because it is 14k gold. I wonder a lot of things about it, no doubt Gruen is the strongest brand (most pieces) in my collection, but I know so little about them. I took some pictures of one of my other 14k gold Gruen's and the movement is almost identical but with a different movement number. Also, the case markings are shockingly different for both having the same case content. Any additional information would be appreciated. For now, here are the pictures!!!It had some weird ghosting in the first couple photos.. I think they get better.Gruen is notorious for not signing their crowns (at least of the 7 or 8 I own) but they did on this oneAlso unique to this piece, it has a "Gruen Continental" marking on it. My other Gruens don't pay any attention to a model name on the dial. This is a normal marking and what seems to be a period
This was the first group picture of my collectionAfter 4 years trades and acquisitions, the group picture was taken again. As you can see I am a modern watch guy, collecting the watches from popular brands. I either buy used watches or good discounted new watches. I payed full price at the AD for the 5711 and 116520 though. To me, the collecting watches is not spending money, it is transforming the money to another format. The difference in the bank account is just one digit, for example x50,000 to x30,000, but the difference in your life and mind is totally different. I enjoy waring the watches everyday, touch them everyday, physical feel the quality they bring you. I can't feel such a happiness if I have one digit difference in the bank account. I really feel this way, how many of you have the same feeling? One more thing, what's your suggestion for my next target in this collection?(Similar post was post in the Rolex Forum, I apologize if you see duplicate. I'd like to learn the opini
