Tag Heuer WAS2112.FC6181 wrist watches news:
Hello everyone,This is my first post here on the forums and I wanted to thank in advance all who can offer any information or help on this question. So, I have two vintage chronographs that have what I can almost positively say are replacement crowns. I already know that finding a truly original crown (i.e. a Gruen or Croton crown) is in all likelihood not going to happen. That being said, I would like to get two crowns that are as close as possible to the original shape, material, and fit of the originals. The first watch is a Gruen Precision Chronograph with a 770R movement that is mechanically similar or identical to the Valjoux 7730 or Venus 188. First picture is of my watch with the rounded crown. The second picture by Watchentime, among other images of identical chronographs by Gruen with that same flat, larger crown is what I am aiming for. That is the style I am looking to replace the current crown with. Gruen1 (3).jpgGruenOriginal.jpgThe second watch is a Croton Chronomaster A
Do all Hadley Roma straps have the name branded inside? I bought a strap today that said Hadley Roma, genuine crocadile, and Water Resistant on the box, but the strap only said "genuine leather" on the inside (no branding, no "genuine crocadile" or "water resistant") and the clasp was plain, flat metal with no marking. I have a couple of Hadley Romas, one Kevlar style and one carbon fiber, and I could have sworn they were both branded on the inside and had a heavier metal clasp. I paid $21 a piece for those. I only paid $14.99 (list $19.99) for the new one, so I guess it shouldn't be a big deal. So, now that I've spent more than $14 worth of time writing on my thumb keyboard, does Hadley Roma sell un marked straps, or did I buy a no-name in an HR box? Thanks!
I am complete novice when it comes to Patek and would be interested in understanding what the basics are of putting together a great Patek collection (in case I win the lotto of course). What are the basic things to look for when buying a Patek? What do collectors value or dislike? What are the dos and don'ts of investing in Patek? How does the market think about/value white gold vs platinum, or rose vs yellow gold? What are the most liquid/understood watches/category of watches? How does wearing them affect the value? What are tips for trying to minmize wear?Should you try and have a strap for daily wear and one in the box?Can/should older watches be restored?Who restores them?It seems like perpetual calendar with chrono is a benchmark watch like the 1518,2499,3970,5970,5270 series. If you were going to build a collection of these as an example, should you try and have all one metal type like white gold, or vary the metals, or get one of each? How about the different series within these watche
Wondering if Patek may eventually come out with one. Would people here be interested in it?Anyone good with photo shop that can mock one up?
