Thomas Prescher?strikes you as the type of man that knowingly knows something you don't. What this special knowledge entails doesn't seem to matter, but the German-born watchmaker regularly smiles reassuringly with a gleam in his eye that seems to tell you he's figured something out about life that you haven't. It could all just be something about his confident personality. He isn't terribly forward with it, but he isn't shy about reminding you that he, and only he possess certain techniques that make his little machines possible to produce. Once again he releases a watch with his special form of?triple axis tourbillon.Prescher is a compact man who currently lives in Switzerland producing a handful of rather intensely horological items each year. This field trip is to see a service start to finish. I have a few vintage watches that need a COA so I took them with me to Sam's shop on 7th & Sansom in Philadelphia. Sam, you're gonna be a star! Here he is at his workbench. I don't know if I'd recognize him anywhere else.We decided on my funky oval Bulova for the guinea pig. I found it NOS but not working so it needed a service and/or new part or two.First, the case back must come off:N9 - 1979....and I thought it was a few years older than that.At this time, the Solvil et Titus movement was Swiss, but now it's in Hong Kong. This particular movement is based on an ETA 2879 quick set day/date caliber. The rotor comes off:The bracelet comes off and the shock jewel is removed:All the parts get separated:The rest of the automatic winding system comes off:so what's left looks like this:Next, the balance & hairspring assembly with the balance bridge comes out:Found the broken part - top is the bad, bottom is the replacement.
I'm big fan Chrono's Auto's just love to see different style we have here on WTF. Here a few of my I not going to post all I got 12 so here my favorites in order.
I¡¯ve always preferred a rubber strap. I¡¯ve always liked the size of the Daytona I like contrast in a dial. I like the ability to have a sub-timer. I like lume. This watch is awesome.
