I have often heard some watches referred to as "Dept. store watch or Drug Store watch". Most recent was a watch repair man who called a Tag a Drug Store watch. My guess is that these remarks are not flattering?

New to this forum, and the 'watch hobby'...
...but this is actually the second watch forum I've joined (I won't name the other; I'm not sure what the rules are about mentioning a 'competing' forum by name )...looking around, I may have spotted a name or two here and there that look familiar. Anyway......I have always been one of those types who liked to know how things work. And who likes to try to fix them if they don't work. My primary interest along those lines has been electronics and I managed to teach myself as much as I could and actually become a reasonably proficient troubleshooting/repair technician. That was my line of work for most of the 35 years I was actively employed (with 8 years of active duty service in the USAF tucked in, from 1978 to 1986). The last ten years of that period I worked in the manufacturing arena as a debug technician working mostly with surface-mount PC boards, so I'm not exactly a stranger to working with VERY small items, using precision tools, under magnification. (Sounds like very sim

Thank you Gentlemen all for starting this Hamilton forum.I just bought a new Khaki Field Mechanical Officer's watch which I will review soon and post pics. My Speedy and Seastar are in the shop, so my new Hammy is getting ALL wrist time right now. I've even been wearing my other two models, Ventura Chrono and Men In Black Digital again. It's re-sparked my love for the brand.It's also made me shed the last of the Invicta spell I had on me.I'm wanting to sell all of them off now and pick up some Hammys.I've figured out that it doesn't pay to buy a $100-$200 auto if it will cost $150 to get it serviced. My watches from here on it will be $500 and better.Time for the collection to move forward. See ya In#$(%&.

strap width mm for a Zulu on a DSSD?
Ok. I did due diligence, (actually, I have only been searching the threads for about 10 minutes, but got impatient ). I want to put a 5 ring Zulu on my DSSD, and wanted to know the best width to order. I don't have calipers, but it is looking like 22 or 24 mm. Any of you know offhand what the proper width would be?
