Uniform Wares C41 Chronograph Headlines New Swiss Made Watch Collection
UK-based Uniform Wares has made a name for itself with modern watches designed with sterile dials (no text) and slick looks that are based on classic timepiece design principles. For a while, Uniform Wares has teased a move to a complete "Swiss Made" production, and now at the end of 2014, the re-vamped collection of all Swiss Made Uniform Wares products is available. Yes, it does mean a slight hike in Uniform Wares watches prices, but it should also mean a hike in overall quality and finishing.The brand is still dedicated to their own brand of high-end quartz, so we are still talking about mostly sub $1,000 prices. Having said that, these new C-Line C41 Chronograph watches top out at about $1,600 (around 1,000 GBP) depending on the model. The Uniform Wares Swiss Made collection will currently be distributed between two model families (the M-Line and C-Line collections) which each have a range of models contained within. Just bought a 171!
After many months and yes, YEARS of searching and contemplating, I finally found and bought a Panerai Power Reserve model 171. Brand new from an authorized dealer, I was AMAZED to find a dealer who had it in stock. It had just arrived that day and would have gone quickly, so my timing was perfect. Best of all, since it was bought in the US Virgin Islands, no taxes of any kind. Yes, I paid retail ($8,500), but that was the full cost, out the door. Wore it back so I avoided customs charges. But even at the inflated prices here at the California Panerai dealers I'd visited, nobody had this model in stock so I count myself doubly lucky Couldn't be happier with this thing. Had it sized and it fits perfectly. While HUGE, it is made mostly of titanium so it isn't as massive as it looks. A bit challenging to wear with some of my formal shirts (cuffs too tight!), so I'll have to get my tailor to move the buttons on the right cuff of a bunch of shirts LOL.Great to finally get one of my two dream

Interesting trip to pp ad
I swung into my locale patek ad today to price out an aquanaut. After talking for a bit he offered a 10% discount and stated that patek makes about 39000 watches per year and about 10% of those are in stainless steel which is why the discounts are low on the steel models, he also said that they can not keep aquanaut on their shelves and have a waiting list for when one does come in. The funny part is that as I was leaving he offered me 12% off a steel aquanaut on rubber if I paid with anything other then an Amex. I showed interest and he checked his computer for inventory and informed he does not have any at any of his stores ( which is what he had told me when I originally asked) but will call me if he gets one in. Other then the salesmen bs is there any truth behind his production numbers and steel vs precious metal numbers. Just curious.
