Auction Watch: July 18th Deals To Be Had At The Fellows Auction
The following timepiece auction analysis post is by Chris Meisenzahl. He is a long-time watch enthusiast and daily Speedmaster Pro wearer. Help Identify Vintage Hamilton Pocket Watch
I've had this Hamilton pocket watch for many years but I don't know much about it and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what year it might be from or what model, maybe even an approximate value or any other informationIt's approximately the size of a silver dollar (about an inch and half in diameter) the back opens up but you can't see the inside of the watch, you can see an inscription on one side (I'm fairly certain the inscription includes the date May 12, 1955 but I can't really read it clearly my eyes aren't what they used to be...) and the Hamilton information on the other.Hamilton Watch Co.Keystone14k12723Lancaster, PAAny info would be appreciated, thanks :-)

Is being rude in vogue now?
So I'm doing my regular day-off hunting and come across a pink gold vintage Ω logo buckle. It looks decent, so I send an e-mail using the "Contact" option. I noticed all the seller's buckles are priced at 155 Euros despite their metal contentsolid gold, gold plated, stainless, etc. I ask what he'd take for the particular buckle - here's the conversation sans the greetings and sign-offs:Me "Hi. I see all your buckles are marked with the same price. Speedmaster Modification
I have always been a fan of the Omega Speedmaster - in fact, my first real watch was a 3570.50, which i purchased after much saving and much research several years back. However, over the years, I've grown more fond of the look of vintage speedmasters, with applied omega logos and more slender baton markers. So, i ended up modifying my speedmaster, at least for the time being, so that it looks similar to a vintage model, but has the personal attachment (and much lower price tag) of my modern version. First, i replaced the bracelet with a 1171, as I never particularly liked the modern version. Next, I replaced the dial with one from the 3594.50 re-issue (raised logo, no professional, as it fits the 1861 movement and looks like a more vintage iteration). Finally, in order to appreciate the movement, I replaced the solid caseback with a sapphire version, keeping the hesalite crystal in place on the front dial.
