Mainspring Question
I recently bought some mainsprings for a variety of movements6/0, 8/0, 14/0, etc. Some of the mainsprings are Dynavar and specifically for the 8/0 747, 748 movements.I noticed last night when trying to install one the Dynavar variety was considerably narrower than the typical spring I see and it was also a little shorter. But the narrower part concerned me since it needs to fit in the same barrel.The almost looked like they should be for a different movement (like a smaller ladies variety). However, I have several similar springs all in labeled packets.So - I was wondering if anyone has experience here and can offer an explaination.Are Dynavar springs supposed to go into a special mainspring barrel? Is the narrower width a concern at all?

2 watches I recently "inherited"
Hi,Today my mom and dad showed up with two watches they found in my grandma's house (she just moved to a retirement home). They came to me first because they know I love watches and because I know more about watches than them (which is still almost nothing). The first one is an Omega Gen¨¦ve ladies watchand that's about as much as I can tell from just looking at it; no serial numbers whatsoever. I did wind it so it is a automatic watch (or a winding watch? I will get back on that with the second watch). If anyone can tell me anything about this watch it would be great!The second one is easier to identify. It is a Certina Automatic Blue Ribbon men's watch. There are some numbers on the back but I don't know which ones are serial numbers and whether or not it's safe to put them online (I've got no experience on this...). 2010 Potential Vintage Purchase
Well, I've been wanting to get a nice vintage watch for a while now. So far, two watches have really caught my eye. One is a Zodiac Seawolf (white dial) (Source)and the second is a HEUER AUTAVIA 1163 (Preferably "JO SIFFERT").(Pic taken from HEUER AUTAVIA 1163 VICEROY / SIFFERT / GULF)I know Tag Heuer has come out with a new Autavia, but I'd prefer the original Heuer over the newer one.While I don't have the cash for it at the moment and I'm currently saving up some cash for a potential Euro trip, sometime around July next year, I would love to be able to save up a bit more and buy one of the watch mentioned above.Any idea where can I expect to come across either a NOS or in a good condition?Also, what's the price that I can expect to pay, say 8-10 months down the line? I know its far off, but I have loads of things lined up and it'll take me sometime to save up for a nice watch.Appreciate all your help.-Dhruv
