Vacheron Constantin 47292/000P-9590 wrist watches news:
Jerome DeWitt is a charming man who knows how to create suspense, and how to create watches. We entered his elegant booth at Basel and were seated in comfortable chairs around a low table. As the presentation began, Mr. DeWitt produced what looked like a substantial watch on a small stand, covered with a cloth, and he set it on the table, still covered. He moved like a magician holding a bird just placed under a colorful silk. You know the bird is about to disappear, so you focus on it hoping to catch the trick. In this way I focused on the mystery watch under the cloth as other watches were presented. Eventually, the cover lifted… … and fortunately the watch was still there. IĄŻve always said that everybody needs a sporty minute repeater tourbillon GMT. If you donĄŻt have one yet, I have great news: itĄŻs called the Antipode, and it finished a close second to Christophe ClaretĄŻs DualTow for my personal Holy Smokes! award at Basel 2009. Unlike Mr. DeWitt, I wonĄŻt keep you wait
This thread is not to bash Breitlings, I have two, a vintage three dial Premiere, and a Geneva. My pal's brother had a broken Colt quartz Chrono-Ocean model 3807. A gorgeous watch, silver dial, blue sub dials, and a beautiful case and bracelet. Dropped it off at my watch guy a couple of months ago to get it straightened out. Was supposed to get me an estimate (wasn't my watch), never did, just called me after he replaced the movement with a new Breitling movement. He may have given me the brother in law price forgetting that it wasn't my watch but he only charged me $175.00!!!! Good in some respects, but bad in others. This watch sells on the bay for between $1500 and $2000. Watch probably sold new for much more. My thought is this........Are we really paying thousands of dollars for new Breitlings with $200.00 movements???? As beautiful as the cases and bracelets are, we all know the real beauty of a watch is in the guts.
Hey guys !Most of you guys know that I pretty much only work on watches from the WWI period but today was a bit different!I've been time warped up to the 1950's ! ! ! ! !I bought this watch 11 months ago at the NAWCC Auburn Regional but just now got around to it.The iconic circa 1952 Lord Elgin Black Knight ! ! ! ! !One of the main reasons that I bought this piece is because of the condition of the case, dial and hands, SUPERB CONDITION.The case does NOT have any gold fill wear spots!!!I polished the case and it now appears to be glowing, that 14k gold filled looks awesome ! ! !The movement inside this Lord Elgin was toast, somebody tried to do a repair and just caused more damage by the looks of it.So, I replaced the entire movement with a freshly serviced later model, same 21 jewel 680 movement just made at a later date.I think that this wrist shot just might be one of the best that I have ever taken ! ! ! !
Came across this second hand Big Crown. Anyone know which Big Crown this is? I like its simplicity. I haven't seen this one before. I've been told it's a 2008? Case is 40 mm.Any info would be appreciated. Also, what do you think it would be worth, second hand? TIA.
HI,I have been researching the purchase of a New Michele Deco Glamour watch. It retails for $2,999.95 on Michele. I have found a local authorized retailer who has told me that the metal band by itself is $500 and that the Michele Deco Glamour Face by itself is $2499.95. I asked them what type of discount they would offer and said if i paid cash, they would reduce it by 25% meaning that the Face would cost me roughly $1874. My question...Is this a good price? I know retailers tend to markup their items as high as 40-45%. Can i shave anymore off of that or is that a good deal?Any help is appreciated!
