Zenith 03.2080.4021/01.C494 wrist watches news:
The Panerai Ferrari Scuderia Chronograph 40 mm watch goes on a black leather strap provided with contrasting white sewing. The inner part of the strap is executed in yellow alligator with yellow sewing. The folding personalized buckle is characterized by a polished and brushed finish.
“Black is the one colour that contains and consumes all others,” said French painter and sculptor Henri Matisse (1869-1954). The intense shiny black jade dial on the Grande Seconde D¨¦centr¨¦e Onyx plays with the light bouncing off two white gold rings that come together to form a curvy figure of 8, a signature of Jaquet Droz. The smaller one unveils the hours and minutes tracked by two rhodium-plated spear-shape hands at 2 o' clock. The larger and more eye-catching ring takes over the black dial between 5 and 9 whilst a slim hand twirls over the seconds brought to life by the JD 2663A.P calibre. Gaze at the mechanical movement through the 43mm steel case's sapphire back as it provides a 68-hour power reserve. The steel watch is also available with a silver dial. Price: 10,200 CHF. Last time I was in (about 2 weeks ago) I espied this Waltham tank and asked about it. It's in a 10K gf relatively large case (seems about the size of a Hamilton Gladstone). I believe the interlug width is 18-19mm. The movement (not photographed yet) is high-grade, 21 jewels. I think the watch is from the '40s stylistically, likely made to compete with the Lord Elgin. He said he'd sell it to me (hopefully for not too much) after he services it. The movement also needs some sort of sleeve to sit properly in the case, and he has to look for one. Not something I'd ordinarily collect, but I love the combination of the size, Breuget numerals, and those amazing lugs. A tiny bit of brassing, but not really a big deal.
My dad had worn this gold Omega De Ville for as long as I can remember. The story goes that somebody bought watches for my parents for their wedding. My mom didn't like the buyer, so she gave hers away. I imagine this means it dates from the late 60's. I remember my dad winding this watch every morning before he went to work. A few years ago, he stopped wearing this and went to a Suunto, I think because he couldn't manipulate the crown anymore, and he wanted a watch that was easier to read. The original bracelet, while being super cool, doesn't fit me and is not adjustable. It also has a good amount of wear and I don't know how fragile it is. I'm not sure it's something that could be fixed at an Omega repair center, nor do I think I would want them to.Anybody have any info on the watch, like age, movement? Or any ideas of what I could do with it? I took the bracelet off, the lug width is 14 mm, there aren't a lot of strap choices at that width. To put this on a NATO would seem
Thinking of adding this iconic Omega to my collection. Never really been a Omega dive watch fan but the PO8500 and SMP300 slowly winning me over...Now it is either the wave dial with AL bezel insert or the ink blue dial with ceramic bezel insert. Both running on the 2500 caliber. The older model has a white date wheel and the newer one shows a black date wheel. The blue is the new model is richer and the blue in the old model a little subdued.Dimensions remain similar. The new model costs about USD450 more than the old model.Which do you own? Any thoughts?Below are pictures taken from Omega official site. The New SMP300:The Old SMP300:thanks for your inputs! :)
