Zenith 03.1220.68/31.C546 wrist watches news:
Few watches have as storied a history as the Carrera, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year alongside the Rolex Daytona. While the Carrera has definitely gone through many revisions over the years, the same DNA is still there from the beginning. We decided to take the current Carrera, housing TAG Heuer's Calibre 1887 movement, for a spin, and here we give you a look at the birth of Carrera, the intricacies of the Calibre 1887 movement, and what is was like to wear this modern Carrera for a week. The Birth Of The Carrera 1 OF 40 The Carrera 1887 The Heuer Carrera was first launched in 1963, though for decades it was believed to have not been unveiled until 1964. This was long before sport chronograph watches had any mainstream popularity in the United States (and it took the Viceroy Autavia to turn this around in 1972), and Heuer was mainly known as a producer of stopwatches for race car drivers. The Carrera was originally intended as a tool
This OM was my first new Seiko in over 30 years. My 1977 Digital Seiko still runs but this new OM is at this point a disappointing purchase. Last week I ordered the OM from one of our sponsors - arrived yesterday. I immediately set it and a few minutes later I noticed the second hand was off by 30 seconds. Lucky none of the packaging had been removed! In 23 hours it has gained 3 hours. At that rate it is unlikely it will ever "settle in". Wish me luck -I hope an exchange will go a smoothly as the purchase!
Hey guys,I collected pocket watches when I was a kid. Most of the time my parents would buy them for me on my birthday and Christmas. I've been thinking about getting back into collecting them. I don't have a lot of money right now, but I thought selling one of my watches and buying maybe something a little nicer. I am thinking of selling a Hamilton 992 Most of my watches are Illinois Bunn Specials and I think they're worth more than the Hamilton. If you guys could help me I'd really appreciate it.The watch is:21 jewels Double Roller5 positions adjustedThe pendant pops up, but doesnt do anything when I turn it.The case says Base MetalThe back of the case is worn and has a train on it.The dial is perfect although there seems to be a small dimple where the second hand is.The dial has each individual minute on it.Serial number 1160409If you guys could give me an idea of how much the watch is worth I'd appreciate it. Also how do you know if the watch has a gold wheel like some of the 992 d
Wife's watch after three years is now showing signs of losing more time. The AD relayed this is within the normal period to have the first service. The service center they referred me to has this service interval priced at $350. This is the first mechanical I've needed to have serviced so I'm not aware what is the usual range to pay. Full disassembly, clean, lube and adjustment, along with polishing of the case. I don't know if the watch will require this level of service every 3-4 years and that has me unsure of the long term upkeep. I was also interested in possibly having the rotor engraved with her name. From my initial discussion, this seems like a prohibitive cost but I dunno what this type of custom work entails. The watch brand new is $1,200 so my spending a lot on it doesn't make sense. Your thoughts?
Anything goes. Here¡¯s my favorite. This picture was taken in the Grand Canyon after my wife and I took a helicopter ride in from Las Vegas! (Highly recommended btw)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
