Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS Watch Finally Gets It Right
Garmin,maker of one of the best products coming out of America (design only, units are made abroad; sorry the US just isn't making too much good stuff these days), has attempted to make a few GPS watches in the past. The idea was pretty well taken; use GPS location technology to calculate things like running speed, distance traveled, etcCombine that with a heart rate monitor, and you have a great activity watch. The problem was that early models, such as the Garmin Forerunner 201 suffered from being impractical, too large, and god-awful ugly.Recently Engadget covered the upcoming release of the new Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS watch, that finally takes the Forerunner line of watches into something you might consider wearing outside the solitude nature. Looks are a combination of Suunto, Casio, and a little bit of Polar. Patek with a restoration dial - Are they still desirable?
While browsing around my local market, I came across a Patek Calatrava from the mid-late 1940s. Upon talking to the dealer, he indicated that patek replaced/restored the dial sometime around the 60s. I guess and extract from the archive would confirm that.Generally, I prefer all original, but I've never come across a Patek restored/replaced dial before. If it was anyone else doing the restoration I would be hesitant. It certainly isn't shined and new looking. Still has 50 years of age on it.Does an actual Patek restoration affect the value or desirability from collectors?

Hey guys, Just wanted to share my favorite 24/24 strap with you .. Made out of British Tan leather by the loose cannon of the strap world .. Shane Delaurian. It actually takes a little bit of convincing to get him to make a not-so-unusual strap and he did agree to make me one for my now-departed 243 late last year. I, unfortunately, sold my 243 just after this one arrived and it has since waited to for an appropriate match. The wait ended tonight ... I recently sold all my 24/24 straps and this is only one that survived. Quite Deservingly so IMHO.The texture on this strap is the very best I have ever laid my eyes one. The thickness is just right and the finishing on the edges and holes is something I have not seen before. The underside of the strap is lined by some fine leather as well [dont know which kind .. pics attached] and to make the strap unique in a Delaurian way, the keepers are integrated. After strapping on this strap on the new-to-me Ennebi, I realized that I do really nee
