First, the?discussion is on?the Apple Watch and how it managed to fit into the hectic watch wearing lifestyle of?John and Ariel. Then it's on to John's new book titled Marie Antoinette's Watch (see our giveaway here!), crowdfunding the purchase of a watch brand, the Zymosis Lockdown, Casio smartwatches, and vintage Omega. Hi, I'm new here and was wondering if someone could recomend a good watch repair store in Connecticut?
As some of you remember, I was given my great grandfathers pocket watch awhile ago. Well, I'm just not getting a chance to get some research done on it, but having a hard time. Here's the details, and what I've found so far:Movement:It's an Illinois Watch Company model (signed Illinois Watch Co. Springfield, USA).17 Jewel, 41.3mm Judging my the serial number, (2834xxx) it was manufactured around 1916From pictures I've found, it appears to be a DeLong escapement movement. The manufacturing date of these (1915 - 1920) would match the SN date. In fact it looks exactly like the pictures (down to every screw & ruby) of the DeLong Abe Lincoln movement. But, it does not have A. Lincoln on the movement. Everything else on the movement is exactly the same, including the location of the rest of the print.Movement is decorated, with 'waves' on the platesDial is white porcelain, singed simply "Illinois"Case:The inside of the case (below the movement) has a logo of a 2-headed bird holding
Recently, I've done some research into other brands. I was wondering what Rolex lovers generally think of these two. I've never personally been drawn into Patek's designs, but I love Vacheron. I know that VC's do not hold their values as much as Rolex and PP. Thoughts?
