Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Manjuari 1882 Dual Time Diver Watch
In honor of Monty Python's Meaning of Life, let's play "find the fish." Can't find it in the watch? That is odd. Cuervo y Sobrinos named this new watch after the Manjuari - an ancient fish which goes by a lot of names and is better known as the Cuban Gar or Alligator Gar around these parts. If CyS would have called it the "Gar" (Gaaarrr!!) it would have sounded too much like a pirate watch. Wait a minute, isn't this the brand that already has pirate themed watches? Ahem, click here. Manjuari has a much more Indian than Cuban sound to it right?Anyhow, despite the excessively odd name (and scary looking pre-Cambrian fish), this watch is worth noticing as being a pretty excellent two time zone dive watch. Not a GMT exactly, but it has two time zones in 12 hour formats. This is good for people who like having two times at a glance, but aren't comfy reading time in a 24 hour format. All,Just joined this forum as I have begun my search for my first mechanical watch. I've been struggling to find exactly what i want. I really like the look of Omega and Breitling divers as well as the more affordable Steinhart Ocean 1 vintage. I'm trying to keep below $2k and I also don't want a quartz-based watch. I look forward to seeing what I can learn from everyone here...james

Patek Philippe Identification Confusion
I recently came into ownership of this Patek Philippe watch, which after much online research, I believe is the 5053J model. However, after a recent servicing the model which Patek Philippe wrote it down as was "Gentleman Officer's Strap Watch". I am confused, because it looks exactly like the 5053J images which I found online. Hello!I am quite pleased to have found this forum.I'm a retired train mechanic since 2008, now living just outside of Santa Fe, NM.Being "old school", I have a fondness for older mechanical watches.My most cherished watch, belonged to my Great-Grandfather.He was a Rabbi in Utica, NY, and his congregation in 1935, presented him with an eight-sided Silver-cased Waltham 17j pocket watch.My late father refurbished this watch in the late 70's, and it keeps perfect time to this day!Other favorites that I own (and running perfectly) are:Late 1920's Illinois 17j pocket watchNew Haven dollar watch (art-deco styling)Semag, Orvin, Droz, Guda, and Eltra Swiss-made wrist watchesWhen I'm not breaking watches, I'm terrorizing the locals on a 1981 Yamaha XJ750 Seca motorcycle.I hope I can contribute, in a modest manner, to this forum.Thanks!!Steve
