I got this in a pile of junkers.Didn't show much promise of running, but I cleaned it and everything looked good by the time I installed the balance. I installed balance, but initially got relatively clunky, weak beat. Beat improved as I wound it completely. I put the watch back together and expected nothing but smooth sailing. Watch was keeping time, but would stop after a couple hours. It would start right up with slight turn, but weak beat. Seemed like a possible mainspring hang-up, but I've ensured that's not the case. Pallet fork is always giving a nice kick.Position seems to play some role in the problem, but "best" running position isn't always the same. It's probably run for 24 hours total since cleaning, so any bugs I assume should have worked therir way out by now. Tonight I cleaned the cap jewels for the balance, and although it took a bit to get it to start ticking again, it's currently on its side, and beat seems strong and fluid. I expect that in an hour or so,

Gotta give up the Breguet hunt - I just can't settle for anything less than a 5197, and since they're too new to be on the second hand market and too expensive to purchase brand new I'm calling it quits temporarily.But I have a potential consolation prize - a white gold Blancpain Villeret:I've checked it out a bit since I'm not familiar with the brand, contacted the seller, and now I'm just finishing up some homework and deciding which last watch to flip before finalizing the transaction.
