I'm a pretty handy guy and have a new-found obsession with watches so I figured I'd combine the two...I picked up a problematic black Monster from WUS - I'm sure some of you have seen it. My plans are to first partially disassemble the winding system to see if I can determine why the watch won't maintain a charge. The watch runs (at least before I ruin it), it just doesn't retain any energy. Provided the watch runs acceptably by the time I'm done, I plan on installing a different color dial, either yellow (1st choice) or orange (2nd) and maybe different hands. How does this sound?: Monster w/black chapter ring and yellow dialplongeur handsbead blasted case and braceletmaybe anodized case/bracelet as an alternativeIf I kill the movement, how much would a replacement 7s26 run and where can I purchase one?
I recieved an email today informing me of the death of Gerad Genta . If you are unaware of his contribution to watchmaking , here are some highlights ; Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet, the Nautilus de Patek Philippe, the Ingenieur of IWC and Omega¡¯s Constellation.Mr. Genta own label featured the use of jump hours with retrograde minutes and seconds , retrograde pertetual calanders and chronograph all of which were based on new in-house designs . He was a true pioneer who brought functionality to very original designs . I have had the pleasure of working on many of his pieces and was always impressed by the quality and absolute attention to detail . He will be missed .220px-Gerald_Genta.jpg 120PX-~1.JPG. bulgari_image_1623436.jpg
Hello AllNot sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes...My uncle died last year, and as the executors of his will my parents got the task of clearing out his apartment. Anyway, stuffed in the back of some drawers they came across these old timepieces. All are in pretty poor condition, and I'm sure the fob watches will probably never run again, but thought I'd post to see if anybody knew anything about them, or had any particular interest in them...Fob 1:I find this one, aesthetically at least, really pleasing and the pictures don't really do it justice. The maker on the front states H. Cohen, with Manchester underneath. The inner rear cover seems to have some hallmarkings but no idea what these signify! I understand that my uncle was in some organisation similar to the masons called the buffalos, and I think this may well be some sort of ceremonial piece he wore when attending meetings there?Fob2:This ones in really bad condition, and is definitely beyond any sort of
Hi Guys.Just a thought: I have an Omega Seamaster Pro. I love it but I'm dying to get a Rolex! I now work part time and I'm at College so the income isn't what it used to be. Anyway, I'm thinking of selling it to fund or partly fund a Rolex. I know resale value on these aren't great, but does anyone have any idea roughly how much it would go for? Obviously I'd be selling privately, I work in the trade and I know I'd get pennies for it if I sold it back to a retailer. It's only a year old, great condition (usual surface scratches from everyday wear but nothing really noticeable), still has box and papers and 2 years left on the guarantee. Like I say, it's just a thought. I love the idea of a vintage sub or something along those lines, even something needing a little TLC for a bit of a project. I'm fairly new to Rolex so any info or opinions are appreciated! Here's an iPhone pic...sorry about the quality.
