A few basic questions about vintage watches...
Well, a little background. I don't know much about watches, only have one fairly basic Orient which I wear daily. One day (whilst lurking here) I saw a picture of someone's vintage Omega and loved it. Out of curiosity I looked them up on ebay, and saw that most are actually pretty cheap (I was thinking $1k+, I see a lot going for sub $200).I have a few questions about vintage watches in general before I post in the Omega forum about specific models and such. I guess I'll just kind of list my questions...1. Genuine? I know there are a lot of issues with fakes of newer watches, is this an issue as well with vintages, or would it be fairly easy to tell?2. Service? If a watch is 40-50 years old, I presume it would be smart to get it serviced. About how much does this cost, and how frequently is it actually supposed to be done?3. Durability? Are watches this old durable enough to be worn on a daily basis? Whatever I end up buying will be worn pretty regularly.I'll probably have more questio
