Marquetry is the art of applying carefully cut and often tiny pieces of wood veneer (and other materials) to an underlying structure to form a decorative image or pattern. At the highest levels, the craft requires an artist’s eye, deep knowledge of the selected woods, and a steady hand to execute the fine cuts. The Rotonde de Cartier with bear motif combines marquetry and watchmaking to produce a limited series of uniquely artistic timepieces. Everything begins with the design, which inspires the marquetry craftsman to select each wood for its color, grain and texture. Ten species of natural European wood blend together to create the bear’s fur: holly, chestnut, poplar, willow, grey and pink maple, walnut and burr walnut, mottled maple and grey aningeria. The woods are deftly combined to create the illusion of depth and perspective through reflections and contrasts. My a-11 hack watch
I flew all my mssions over Germany wearing this watch. It took us out and brought us back with never a missed beat. It was standard issue to the U.S. Army Air Corps.If ever you see an old guy wearing an A-11 you know the guy and the watch have been in a battle or two This watch is almost 70 years old and worked fine until very recently.Art

Question about accuracy of 3120 movement
Please accept my apology if this question has been asked before.I had my 15400 for about a week now. I noticed that it is gaining about +2.5 ~ +3 seconds per day. I would comfortably say that it keeps very accurate time even when compared with my Rolex which is COSC certified.However, for the same movement that is housed inside my Diver, it keeps on gaining over +12 seconds per day, though the official AP website stated that this is an acceptable standard up to +15s.Both 15400 & Diver is not my daily beater and I will keep it on my winder when not worn. Both were set to turn in bi-direction with 650 TPD, so the basic winding environment is same to both.I just wonder why the same movement will perform very differently in different model. Is it due to the design and configuration is very different.Any fellow AP owners have experienced this same situation and can help to share some clues.I'm puzzled, please help. Thanks.
