Itay Noy X-Ray & Netline Watches Close Up
For 2011 Israeli watch maker Itay Noy offers new pieces including the X-Ray and Netline collection. Of the watches use a new case that offers the same Itay Noy type of smooth look and feel with a new shape that includes bulging case screws. The cases are on the larger side at 44.6mm wide but are wearable on the wrist. They both play with the concept of skeletonization and feature Swiss ETA Unitas 6497 manually wound movements done in various styles.Spending time with the watches I used my macro lens to capture some of their finer details. The X-Ray is a clever concept that has a dial mimicking an x-ray machine. What you see is a monochromatic outline of exactly what is underneath in the movement. Being an actual representation of what is under the dial is so unique. We have been in business now for two months and two days and have broken through 3,000 posts in record time with almost 400 threads. IMHO, business started fast and really hasn't let up=good.I have noted that it has only been in the last week or 10 days that our threads are generating double digit posts to be orange-colored in the far let column of the forum main page. Many of our threads are still single digits until they drop off the first page into our archive. I have also noted that many of the established brand forums on WTF i.e. Rolex, Omega, Invicta, and the Japan/Asia fora have far more lengthy threads. I guess I am experiencing THREAD ENVY.So after two months, any suggestions as to how things are going? Any topics you think we are missing? Do you lust after a particular watch simply because it's out of reach? Because you know no matter how much you save, you'll never be able to afford it - or if you could afford it, you'd never find it because it is so rare?Or are you like me and scan Japanese web sites for exotic pieces that are only available in the Far East, but are actually quite common? I used to get a thrill every time I slipped on my mass produced Japan-only Seiko Sumo because you couldn't get it here. It was therefore "rare." Is chasing the unobtainable the essence of collecting? Is that why many of us move from watch to watch seeking contentment?Maybe not.The flip side of rarity is Invicta, which is readily available but generates incredible passion among it's fans. There is no such thing as an unobtainable Invicta, but people love to collect 'em.How much does rarity play a part in your horological dreams?
