New From Perrelet: Air, Sound, and Eternity
For 2009, Perrelet introduces two new watches and a limited edition set with two timepieces in a special case. The first new model, known as the Turbine, takes Perrelet¡¯s double rotor design to a new level. The dial-side rotor is transformed into a 12 bladed titanium turbine that covers the whole of the dial. The turbine-inspired rotor spins beneath an outer ring bearing the luminous numbers. Luminous markers on the under dial accentuate the multi-dimensional effect. Turbine models measure 44mm in diameter and are powered by Perrelet¡¯s P-181 double-rotor movement. Turn this timepiece over to view angled and polished black lacquered bridges through the sapphire case back. The Turbine collection is available in plain titanium, DLC-treated titanium, and 18K pink gold. Michael Friedberg please look at this.......this is the Rare IWC Top Hat.
Michael's article on the other IWC forum shows what he calls a Top Hat that is really only a hooded lug model..........This is the IWC Top Hat Cal. 87. It is also larger then the Patek Philippe Top Hat. This is much more rare then the Patek. The Case is Rose and Green gold Cresarow US made. Weight is 15g more then the Patek top hat case. The same case was also made with a C.H. Meylan movement which was made by Audemars Piguet. The movement photos are the Meylan rectangular movement.....Much more rare then the IWC Cal. 87 or the Patek 9-90 The Henry Blank Cresarrow company owned the US import rights to IWC and Meylan until 1958 I believe???. The Meylan rectangular 18 Jewel 5Adj being near identical to the Audemars Piguet 18 Jewel 8 Adj. Parts are even interchangeable. Another version of the same movement is also marked 17 jewels. Not sure if it really has one more or less jewel?

Last week we discussed the importance of dials. This week, how important is the strap?Hamilton straps, many of which seem to be Di-Modell, appear to be of a high quality. Do you go for a watch that has an exotic (croc, gator, ostrich, or lizard) strap?Are you a vegan and look for watch straps with man-made materials?What color strap do you gravitate to?I'm strapping myself in for your responses. . .

So I will soon be posting an incoming thread and will finally be joining the AP club in about a week's time In the meantime I have gone into extreme AP WIS mode So I've been wondering about which parts of the steel ROs are made of precious metals or other exotic materialsAFAIK the bezel/case screws are made of white gold?How about hour markers? White gold as well, like Rolex?Movement rotor is made of 22K gold?Please correct/add as necessary

GMT II 16710... Factory service polishing?
I have a A serial 16710 which I've owned since 1999... It's always run perfectly. I sent it in to Rolex for a factory service in 2013, they also did a light polish on it. How does factory polishing effect the future value of these watches? Should I refrain from having it factory serviced again if they always polish them?
