Moonphase on a drug store watch?
Some years ago I bought a quartz watch at my local (drug store - name omitted) that I believed to have a day/night complication (not that "complication" meant that sort of thing to me at the time) and was immediately disappointed that the "sun" and "moon" didn't trade places from AM to PM. Setting the time after changing the battery the other day I noticed two things: the date quick sets(!) and the disk upon which the "sun" and "moon" reside advances a curious two "bumps" every night between 1 and 3 AM. Now, I'm starting to suspect that the "sun" actually represents the full moon (might explain why it, too, is surrounded by stars). If the disk were to make a complete revolution each lunar cycle it would have to advance about 12.5 degrees per day which I'm not sure it isn't doing.I'd like to check this hypothesis, but any documentation for this is long since disappeared. I think I can manipulate the heavenly bodies into whatever position is correct but I'm not sure where my full moon sh

What's Acceptable & What's Not
I have a problem that needs some knowledgeable input/advice. I recently purchased a new chronograph w/ a Valjoux 7750 movement. I immediately noticed a very jittery, irregular chrono second hand movement but was told this can be an annoying but not uncommon characteristic of this movement. I then discovered the minute hand has considerable free play (slop) when adjusting the time, making an accurate setting difficult. Another time, when using the chrono function, it took 3 pushes of the button to start the second hand moving - I'd been wearing the watch daily so it was fully wound. Several other times, again when starting the chronometer, the second hand jumps back about a half second before moving forward. I contacted the AD about the problems & they've been very cooperative & I returned the watch @ their suggestion. This particular German-made watch has a reputation for being a bit difficult to find & needs servicing at the manufacturers facility in Germany. The AD

first chrono suggestions
Hi all, relatively new to this hobby and needing some help choosing my first chronograph. Currently i have 3 day/dates (tissot visodate, lum tec m52 and skx007) and its time to add a chrono to avoid my collection becoming repetitive.So ive narrowed it down to 3:1) steinhart nav b chrono 47mm DLC2) pre owned speedy pro3) stowa chronograph 1938 black polishedi should add that currently i am leaning towards the steinhart based on the "elabore" movement however im open to being swayed in other directions. The other 2 would be out of reach of my current budget however im happy to hold off and keep saving if i feel its warranted.Welcoming all suggestions and personal experiences, thankyou in advance.
