JLC refurbishing
If any of you remember, I sent a JLC reference #2285 in for refurbishing. I just got the estimate back and it's almost exactly where I thought: $1225 including shipping. Considering this poor thing was literally minutes away from the being melted down and the movement being cannibalized, it's a fair price. Also, if you take into account the price of a new 18K M.U.T. it's a real bargain! I also asked about a few options: an 18K logo buckle is $620 and a matte black croc strap with the JLC logo is $310. So I'll throw some things out there and see what you think.1) Since they're redoing the dial, should I keep the crosshairs or not? Some of the watches had them, some didn't from this time. Normally I really like crosshair dials, but it dates the watch to that period during the 50's and 60's. The plain dial would be timeless, and it would be tough to tell it from a new version. Since you¡¯re into watches, maybe you can help me find some good options to think about. I¡¯m looking for something that¡¯s not modern/sporty like my current watch. I kind of want something that could have been inspired by a 15th or 16th century boat/ship/yacht/tallship. Does that make any sense? Something more Breitling-eque than Tag Hauer. I found a Liquid Metal at my local Omega boutique.Whats strange is the MSRP I saw is different to that in the USA.On a separate thread, the US MSRP suggested is $5700 but the one here converted from HKD is $5243. And the HK dollar is pegged to the USD so there isn't really any ROE factor here altering the price.Need your help guys, its pricey - but should I swap my regular PO for the LM?
