This week's Bring a Loupe will mark the exciting return of watch auctions, with some picks straight out of London, featuring a legendary Rolex chronograph. A Very Rare Anti-Magnetic Watch, The Eberhard Scientigraf 1 OF 11 When you think about anti-magnetic watches, the Rolex Milgaus, the IWC Ingenieur and the Omega Railmaster usually come to mind straight away. The Scientigraf from Eberhard deserves a respectable mention too. You get much more than a plain scientific tool watch, with its very interesting Explorer-type dial and unusual handset, all that in a sweet 38 mm case. Hi all,I've been lurking on the forums for a few months now and decided to pop in and say hi. Now for a little life story:I've only recently taken in interest in watches having previously owned quartz. I entered into the world of mechanical timepieces with a graduation gift from my wonderful parents, an Omega Speedmaster Date (with white dial) - I absolutely love this watch, everything about it is perfect to me.I then joined all of you as a fellow Hamilton owner a few months ago when I picked up a brand new Hamilton Khaki Field Chrono 42mm on the bay for an absolute steal of ~US$500. The fit and finish of this watch was much more than I expected. Not on the same level of the Omega, which also uses the same Valjoux 7750 base movement, but nevertheless very impressive. It was originally on the canvas strap which did not do the watch justice at all, making it sit really high on my tiny tiny wrists, so I purchased a couple of aftermark cheapie straps, which have not been all that thrilling

Pocket watch-to-wristie conversion
Just spied this interesting Hamilton Railroad Pocket watch on the swamp that has been re-cased and converted to a wristwatch:It's swamp item {deleted by mod}It has a nice 992B 21 jewel movement. Sweet.I've seen some of these conversions before from this seller and didn't care for them. But this one I like. At 49mm, it's a little on the large side for my small wrists. But I think it would wear like a traditional pilot watch, which tend to be about this size.And unlike some of his other pocketwatch-to-wristwatch conversions, this one is a straight up auction and doesn't have a ridiculus BIN price.Roger - If you're looking for a Christmas present for me, this one would be fine.
