The"Admiral Benson" WWI Trench Watches, Elgin, Illinois & Waltham
Earlier this week I finished up with a Waltham "Admiral Benson" Trench Watch, turned out pretty good, pleased with the results. It's the 1st watch pictured, BIG size 0s with a 10k yellow gold filled case with the original factory crown.An "Admiral Benson" Trench Watch could have a number of different movements like Elgin, Illinois, Waltham or some Swiss, it was a jobber case.The case was named "Admiral Benson" by the Illinois Watch Case Company in September of 1917.But, these cases started showing up in Spring of 1917.Here is the wiki link to Admiral Benson if you wish to know more about him: William S. OK Everyone knows the financial markets are a mess, so let me throw this out there ...For those of you multiple watch owners like myself, suppose you had to sell all but one, and the one you kept would be your 24 hrs per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year, day and night, all occasion watch. What would that one watch be ? For me, it would be my Rolex No-Date Z-series Sub.
