Economic downturn impact on collecting
Just our of curiosity - with past economic downturns (read drastic market correction) many luxury consumer goods tend to get impacted more severely than others. So a couple questions for you WIS's. If you are a collector, what if any changes will you make in near future purchases? Secondly, in the upper scale (.i.e. Rolex, Omega, Patek, Brietling, etc..) is the downturn a good opportunity for picking up some good pre-loved additions while saving some $$$ ?

Swatch Group Target
Thought the following may be of interest to some Omega fans:Just read on the BBC Telextext page that Swatch Group are looking for sales growth of between 5% and 10% in 2012 after reporting record sales in 2011 (up 21.7% to ¡ê4.8bn / $7.5bn). I wonder where they are aiming most the the sales growth from? I'd reckon they'd have to shift a fair number of Swatch watches to reach their target, so I guess there will be a lot of pressure on the Omega Division.

I was poking around the mall with my kids in tow. I'd forgotten it had been newly issued. The incessant whining of the kids meant I couldn't check it out up close but It's a monster piece of steel. Maybe I'll check it out tonight.

First Rolex incoming!
Hi guys, need to share my excitement with you. My Rolex journey has been a rather odd one. I got into watches couple of years ago. From the start, I was 100% certain that I would never own a Rolex. I just didn't like what you typically associate with the brand or people who wear them (please don't kick me out and keep reading). Over the years, I bought 2 Omegas (Speedy Pro & Seamaster PO GMT), 2 Breitlings (Superocean Heritage 46 & Transocean 1461), a Tudor (Black Bay Heritage S&G), a Sinn (104), a Tag Heuer (Link) and some Seikos (SKX, Samurai, Cocktail Time). And while I love all of these watches, the more I learned about Rolex, its history and its horological significance, the more intrigued I was. It was clear: I needed to have one. I've been hunting a BLNR for months now here in Australia and it's almost impossible. They sell used ones 15% over MSRP and new ones at 30-40%.
