New member with an old watch... (mid-1950s Omega Seamaster Crosshair Calibre 500)
Regrettably I recently inherited a family heirloom, my father's mid-1950s Omega Seamaster watch. He purchased it in Indianapolis at Rost Jewelers in the 1955-56 timeframe. It comes with its original Omega blue leather-covered display box and Omega Guarantee of Origin booklet.What little I have learned about the watch in the last two weeks or so can be summed up here:Calibre 500 with 17-jewel movement (not the "bumper" style)SerNum 14656083Black face with crosshairsExisting bracelet is a non-original stainless steel stretch band "Fixo-Flex S"

Hamilton Repair?
Hey gang, I'm a newbie here, I found this forum while looking around on the net for watch repair facilities. My wife bought me this watch many many moons ago, I'd have to guess it's 15-20 years old. She bought it for a b-day present for me when I was in the Navy. Anyway, time has taken it's toll, it stopped working a while back and is in need of repair. It's a beautiful watch and I would like to get it fixed; hence my postDoes anyone know of a reputable Hamilton watch repair facility? I checked on Hamilton's website and they make no mention of repairing their watches (that I could find). Thanks in advance.Steve

Has there ever been a Speedmaster with the following characteristics...1. Orange Dial2. Quartz Mov't3. 6,9,12 Chrono dials4. 3 oclock date window5. Arabic NumeralsI met someone with this watch, and it just looked off for some reason. He said it was a gift. He had replaced the bracelet with a non-standard model so this info is worthless.Just wondering, thanks!

Continuing my research on what many call the finest timepiece in the world. I'm wondering, what Swiss watch companies are there that are comparable to a Patek Philippe? A Lange & Sohne? F. P. Journe? Vacheron? Is there really any competion? What other brand maintains value across the board like Patek? Is there a question I should be asking that Im not?Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.
