If you have been following HODINKEE, you might agree with us that Zenith is a manufacturer that produces some of the more value-for-money watches these days. There are few totally in-house chronograph movements that can be had for just around $10,000, and which come in such a variety of dial and case designs ranging from sporty, to totally classic, to something in-between. Most modern watch collectors would probably also recognize the distinctive tri-color dial, especially with the recent lineup of watches such as the Zenith El Primero 36,000 VPH or El Primero Original 1969. And as most of you might know, the tri-colored dial originates from the Zenith El Primero ref A386, a watch produced in 1969 with the (arguably) first high-beat automatic chronograph. 1 OF 15 But did you know that the reference A386 was not the only watch in the El-Primero family with the tri-color dial? The False, Funny, Strange and Deceptive Watch Advertising Phrases...
This is more of a humor thread than anything else, but if you're anything like me (sarcastic and probably a bit too observant), you see a lot of watch ads that make bogus claims, or use funny or inflammatory advertising language to describe the features of their watches. I have kept an unofficial running list of these and add them as I come across them. Here are a few: Water resistant to 100 meters (suitable for showering and washing hands, but not submersion). -I guess the 100 meters means that you could walk to within about 300 feet of a body of water before the crystal fogs up from the insideProtective acrylic crystal. -Aside from the fact that 'acrylic crystal' is an oxymoron, acrylic could probably only be considered 'protective' if compared only to having a crystal made of Jello, or no crystal at all...Non-water resistant. Not suitable for swimming or diving -OK, now I get it! That finally explains why all of the watches I buy that aren't water resistant are being ruined

Hey all,I have a new 15400 that I just can't get to fit right. Its either too tight and then I add a link and it is too loose.Have any of you purchased a half link directly from AP? If so, price and is it readily available?Thanks

My wife saw a watch at our local AD - the Patek Philippe 4920. Problem is, it's a quartz - and a lot of money. Is a quartz ever worth a lot of money? Your opinions, please.
