I was thinking about trying to organize a get together for the midwest, seems like we haven't ever had one, and we are way past due! I know most of the members on the boards are from the west or east coast, but I think there's a good amount of members here from the midwest. So before I get carried away and too into the idea, I want to check intrest and see if it's really worth it. What do you midwest guys think? ya or na?

A little fun in Nassau
I have some great photos from Bay Street in Nassau of the watch shops that would let me take pictures. There was a nice representation of great brands, and I couldn't believe I resisted temptation. I saw a wonderful JLC Reverso GMT in 18K yg with a chocolate secondary dial and band. Now I know what strap I want for mine! I also saw the perfect Audemars Piguet manual wind. Of course I grabbed a few catalogs, and helped a friend get a great buy on a DateJust 116234 - no sales tax & duty free PLUS a 5% discount added up to a sweet bargain. I'll post photos of that excursion as soon as I edit them. One day our group got a surprise from a member's father who's a doctor on the Island. He had rented a private island just off the coast and we could snorkel & swim and then attack the barbeque. I got a return invite to go on his 65 ft Hatteras for marlin next time down. Renewing the gold plate or not??
Hi everyone,I am posting in here because this is more of a general enquirery than to a specific maker or country of origin. I have a gold plated pocket watch of an unknown Swiss maker in a case by the Illinous Watch Case Co. It was made in the mid 1930s we think and i inherited it from my grandfather in 1969 and the plating is now very thin and worn away in places and i wondered if the general feeling is to leave it as it is being original or have it replated so that it looks good again ?Many thanks, Bob.PS I hope you are all having a great Xmas and that Santa helped you to add to your collections
