This time last year, we went ahead and named the best swag of Baselworld 2015 ¨C it was a flask from NOMOS, and it was full of rum. Now NOMOS is back again this year with what is a pretty nifty little Baselworld survival kit, each individualized for attendees of last night's kick-off party. What's inside? Awesome little artisanal items all hand-selected by the NOMOS team, and assembled by hand. 1 OF 2 So in addition to the USB stick and card holder, you have a pen, a comb, a piece of chewing gum, a coin to make a telephone call (if you could actually find a pay-phone), an ankle clip for riding one's bicycle in slacks, a shoe polishing cloth, and actually much more. 2 OF 2 The above kit is my own ¨C for men ¨C while the ladies kits looked like this. As always, NOMOS does things just a little different than anyone else here at Basel, and you gotta love that.

2011 Watches in and out... Not all Rolex!
I've had a big year [for me]i'd though i'd share my in's and outs. If you don't like threads with pictures and 'look what i've just got' look away now...I did not plan any of thesebut some have been long term 'wants' and others have been random because of offers or 'right price'.. I'll get this out of the way first, i actually haven't sold any! I did buy and sell a Seawolf within a week if that counts..First was a Breitling Chronomat on Roleaux off Ebaybut with papers and recent big service. Love the dial colour on this...Next was a Navitimer.. always wanted one of these but didn't think id ever get one as they kept going up, one came up at a great price so here she is:Next was a Rolex Explorer 2.. Daytona and Speedmaster
In my poker post the other day, G.J. noticed that the Speedmaster appeared to be larger than the Daytona and asked if I could post a photo comparing them.The Speedmaster does look much larger but I suspected that it is because the lugs and dial are larger while the bezel is narrower than those on the Daytona.To try and confirm things, I took out my calipers and got to work.The Daytona measures 38.56 mm across the bezel from 2 to 8. Yes, I know that everyone always says it's 40 mm.The Speedmaster measures 39.73 mm at the same place on the bezel so it is slightly larger.Looking at my photo, I really need to get a light box. Anyway, here's the pic.

Sorry this has taken so long - I have a string of excuses if you would like to hear them - not really huh? Oh well, on with the show!The traditional bga shot:Obviously no AR, but nice detail on the dial. Screw down crown with a unidirectional bezel. Interesting complication - the day & night indicator. I know what you are thinking, just look out the window - but you can't do that on the Red October (in a submarine)...I like the attention to detail on the movement (a Vostok 2416). The blued screws are painted (not actually blued) - but a nice touch. I also like the rotor - excellent detail for a watch at this price point. As you can see, this is a "limited" edition watch - only 3,000 made (unless they can sell more I am guessing).I am a little disappointed in the finishing quality. Look at the lug on the bottom left (the second hand is pointing at it) - it was not fully brushed. A little detail that speaks loudly - although, that is the only thing wrong with the watch. The
