Close-Up: Breguet Classique 5717 Hora Mundi
The #breguet Classique Hora Mundi, in simple terms, is the first example of a mechanical timepiece with an instant-jump time zone display. All of the displays jump between time zones with the push of a button. Once you see it, the concept is so intuitive, you wonder why it has not been done before. The Breguet Classique Hora Mundi is equipped with the 5717 self-winding mechanical movement, which is based on Caliber 777 with a silicon escapement, in this case fitted with an additional module. The dial displays hours, minutes and seconds via centrally-mounted hands. The date is at 12 o’clock, and the city or time zone indicator is at 6. A large sun/moon or day/night display rests between 3 and 4 o’clock.The instant-jump time zone feature with fully-synchronized displays is the showstopper. Got my Omega back this week
I finally got my Omega Seamaster Deville back for the watchmaker. I had a new Omega crown put on and it took several months for to arrive. So far it seems to keep ok time with in 30-60 seconds a day. the bezel is 14k gold and the back os stainless. It was a 25 year award watch for GM. the date on back is from 1971. The movement is a non hack/ non quickset date. Does anybody have an idea what the caliber it has? it says swiss made on the dial. 036.jpg039.jpg

Dear Rolex:You do know that I am a Rolex Geek Squad member (as called by several of your boutique staff); and that just like my fellow TRFers, we get goosebumps and start conversations everywhere a Rolex is even hinted. You do know that I, just as most here, are on the verge of a nervous breakdown as Basel is around the corner...the same problem I have year after year. I wake up this morning and find this full, two page ad in my local newspaper...so now my ¡®need¡¯ of a new watch has turned into full madness. Once again you are a marketing genius!

Explorer link, Recommendations
Had my new Explorer sized and link adjustment done by local watch / jewelry store and they botched the link screw (rough and a bit sharp) as well as the link is now stiff and not moving as it should. The closest AD is a day trip and with the holidays there¡¯s no time. The watch fits perfectly now but when I️ run my finger along the bracelet it¡¯s rough at that spot and that doesn¡¯t bode well with me. So, I️ want it fixed like new with smooth screw heads and a link that moves freely. Anyone have a recommendation as to who I️ could send it to to fix it that could do a quick turnaround? I️ don¡¯t think it¡¯s a big issue at all for someone that knows what they¡¯re doing. I️ also have read that each link screw is sized for the individual link and that you can¡¯t just use any link screw as it were. So TRF, what would you do and who would you send it to?
