Breitling E7936210-G606BRLT wrist watches news:
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with one of our own writers, James Lamdin. Along with writing about watches, he's also the founder and CEO of analog/shift, and he's painted us a rather vivid picture of his own grail hunt.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?James Lamdin: I am James Lamdin, and in addition to my freelance writing for ABTW and other outlets, I am the founder and CEO of analog/shift, an online boutique with a curated selection of vintage timepieces. In other words, I work on both sides of the timepiece industry, covering new watches and current events while wearing my writer's cap, as well as buying, selling, and brokering vintage wrist and pocket watches for individual and corporate clients. In many ways, I get the best of both worlds, and should
Interesting to find out that Wall Street Fraud Madoff was a Rolex collector of sorts.txauction/live_auctio...%20Catalog.pdfFrom Lot 232 onwards is his stuff.
I ran across an interesting article in hr magazine about the Hamilton US Navy Torpedo Boat Chronometer. This was a departure from Hamilton railroad watches in that it was larger and had more complications. It came in a wooden carry box that could be mounted to the bridge of a ship. It had a 21 j movement and a 56 hour mainspring along with a winding indicator. When military budgets were cut during the depression, some US Navy vessels entered WWII with one of these watches on the bridge.
That draws you to it?Let me explain what I mean. I never used to like the look of them and Until last week I had never seen one but for some strange reason I've been drawn to them slowly over the past year. Last week I went to Italy and found a small dealer in Verona that had a few Patek's Omega's and a dozen or so Panerai. If I was in a Rolex AD I could name nearly every one immediately but with Panerai I could even name one. However I loved the look of two of them and tried them one. One turned out to be a 590 and the other a 005 (the strap on the 005 was a different one that normally comes with it - when they showed me the original strap I wasn't as keen as the one they had on).The AD wouldn't do a deal on either but eventfully agreed to knock of €300 off the 005 and give me the strap that was one it (retail €320) - on a quick google of Prices it would have been the same as UK prices so I walked away. Firstly I figured I may get a deal at home and secondly was I just buying like bei
Just for fun, lately I¡¯ve been thinking about what would be my Rolex & Patek duo of choice for life (I don¡¯t know why, since I¡¯m not looking to purchase). After much thought I¡¯ve come to the conclusion that I would pick my SubC Date and the 5712. I think they compliment each other very well and I¡¯m very casual so I dont need a dress watch. Curious to know what TRF would pick from the two best brands in the world imho. Some pics of my duoSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
