Really soon (6pm on September 24th) it will be time for the Only Watch 2009 watch auction. I summed up the detail a bit here, and here. Click there to get the specs on it all. Frankly I am a bit tired of writing "Only Watch" 2009, but just because there has been so much to say about it. The concept is really cool; your favorite watch makers need to make special unique watches that are then sold to the super elite, and the money goes to charity. The auction is held at the Monaco Yacht show every other year.Charity is nice and all, but for me it is all about the crazy watches they the brands came up with. This year there will be 34 watches auctioned off. For a watch to be part of the auction it must be the very first in a limited edition (1/XXX), or a totally unique watch specially made for the event. I really enjoyed seeing what the brands put out there, and I look forward to smirking at the prices that will be achieved for the timepieces. There is going to be a heavy amount of alcohol

I have been slowly but surely figuring out Ebel's code for movements. As an etablisseur, they don't make movements, though they have always decorated them in their shops, as well as service and assembly. For example, the Ebel caliber 214 from back in the 60's is an A. Schild 1687 (with added autowinding), which I had to discover the hard way by digging around in Roland Ranfft's database. Other companies used that movement, too: Girard-Perregaux, Zodiac, Doxa, Favre-Leuba, and Eberhard. But Ebel provided generally superior decoration to all of those. That's what the best etablisseurs did, and Ebel has always been among the best.And the caliber 120 (at least in the modern era) is an ETA 2892. The 126 is an ETA 2894, which is a 2892 with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module. They used that movement in the Brasilia chronographs, among others. Vintage Omega Constellation 352 cal question ?
Hello, I have an early Omega Constellation with the 352 movement. I am trying to determine the year of manufacture. The case is marked 2648 with a 11 mil. serial number The movement is a 352 with the RG regulator and a 12 mil. serial number. Can anyone help direct me to a web site with information. Also which serial number do I use to determine the year?? The one the movement or the one on the case?? Thankyou for any help. David
