Christopher Ward continues to develop and surprise. In the last few years we have seen several higher end watches for the brand, all of which challenge our notions of what can be done in the affordable/accessible spectrum. Up to this point, the watches we've seen have all been focused on interesting mechanical complications, specifically a jump hour, mono pusher chronograph and dual 24-hr time.For their most recent delve into the higher end, however, they focused on materials rather than mechanics.The C Ward C1000 Typhoon Chronograph marks the brands first attempt at a ceramic watch. Constructed of black ceramic over a titanium sub-frame, the C1000 promises to be seven times harder than steel for great scratch resistance, light and, in their own words, "virtually indestructible". While I didn't test that claim, it is bold and certainly makes for a tempting timepiece. New guy looking for new watch
Hey all, don't know much about watches but I'm looking to get a new one. I have my eye on a hugo boss watch in two different color schemes.06_hbna58019881_999_21.jpg06_hbna58020176_999_21.jpgNothing special, but i'm just looking for a nice looking, simple watch. My question is does anybody know if these are any good? The website doesn't have much information on them, all it says is: "Curved stainless steelStainless steel strapSilver dialUltra-slim caseWater resistant to 3 ATM"Aside from that I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the second hand would move in a sweeping motion or in a clear ticking motion? Also if anybody could recommend watches looking similar to these with a sweeping second hand and that have a nice lume that would be great (under or around $500)

hi all, thinking of purchasing a second hand cronomat, steel bracelet, blue face with the gold dials, there is a couple on ebay, always liked the watch , just looking for peoples opinion on them ?for infor I have omega planet ocean, rolex gmt pepsi and rolex gmt ceramic and also a tudor submariner (for sale) and a tag 1000, and possibly a omega speedmaster on route, once had a brietling superocean, blue face, loved it, but finances meant I had to sell it and have always fancied another one ?thanks for any replies, would you buy a watch without papers ? or box ? if proved genuine ? and how much does this affect its value ?regardsScott

Vintage chronometer...
I thought that I would contribute a review of an exceedingly rare, vintage manual-wind chronometer in order to help jump-start this new forum. It is cased in 18k yellow gold, and features a superb 17 jewel cal. 27 O S movement. The "27" refers to the dimension of the movement (27mm), the "O" denotes ore (i.e. gold), and the "S" denotes sweep second. The movement is a highly finished and adjusted version of the well-known cal. 12.68ZS workhorse. This particular movement dates to 1955, and, thanks to the helpful people at the Longines Museum, I can add that the watch itself was invoiced in October of 1959 to Longines' U.S. partner, Wittnauer. Thanks to Bill (in Sacramento), who has access to a Swiss Watch Journal for the year in question, out of 73,000 overall, Longines received 73 chronometer certificates for wristwatches from St. Imier in 1955. Professional model look better with a matte or glossy dial ?
Personally, I do like the one with a matte dial. Like an Explorer black or an Everose gold Yacht Master. What do you guys prefer ? Thanks
