Antiquorum’s May Auction: World Records for Two Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Watches
Antiquorum¡¯s ¡°Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces¡± auction held on Sunday, May 12th at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva, headlined by a selection of vintage Rolex Daytona watches commemorating that model’s 50th anniversary, and set two new world records, including the highest ever sale price for a Daytona at auction.The auction featured a total of 518 carefully curated timepieces and drew bidders from around the world, notably from China, Hong Kong, Italy, the United States and Switzerland. Once again, it was a Patek Philippe that commended the top price at the sale, in this case a Patek Philippe Ref. 5002 ¡°Sky Moon Tourbillon¡± in rose gold with special order case (lot 225). A unique piece with 12 complications, the watch was sold to an on-site bidder for the eye-opening price of CHF 1,202,500. Can only keep one.....but which one ?
Unfortunately, I have to reduce the stable. Currently have:ROC 26331 black dialROO ¡°Elephant¡± 26470ROO 44 TI Can only keep one. What¡¯s the most versatile? I¡¯m usually in a shirt and tie at work but want something of an all rounder. Love the bracelet of the 26331 but can always get one for the elephant if I go that route. The 44 is an amazingly light and comfy...but does it work as the ONE ?For perspective, I also have a PP 5980r and an IWC BP. Would love to hear some thoughts! TIA.

Does the value of your watch impact how you wear it?
Simple question: does the current market value of your watch impact how you wear it?I¡¯m no stranger to expensive watches and generally don¡¯t fret about how I wear my watches relative their cost. Most would cringe to see what I wear when fishing, boating, motorcycling, hunting, golfing, etc. However the recent (insane) valuation of steel Pateks has begun to influence how I wear them. I¡¯ve found myself worrying about scratches and dings on my steel Pateks whereas it was never a consideration before. I have no such hangups with my PM watches - only steel. Brand has little bearing on it. Maybe I¡¯m just not meant to own steel? Thoughts?

Crazy week in England!
As some may know, about a year ago I decided to consolidate 3 of my 5 Rolex Sports for a 5711 Nautilus. I sold them around 1 year ago, put the funds into my savings account and patiently waited......Fast forward to last Friday, I happened to be in the UK and sadly still no sign of my Nautilus. To console myself I was lucky enough to pickup up a brand new sealed 5167A that was pre-arranged before my trip. After collection I dashed to the London Salon to get the strap sized and at the same time also picked up a khaki version for the upcoming summer. Love it to bits, especially the weight (or lack of it) and I think it’s the perfect size for my 7”ish wrist. On my penultimate last day in the UK I am rushing around London like a mad man picking up shopping for the mrs and kids to take back on the flight home. All this shopping is thirsty work so I pop into a pub off Oxford Street for a sneaky pint of Guinness and check my emails..... “I’ve got your 5711/1A h
