A few weeks ago, we gave you a hands-on look at the Piaget 900P, the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. But this isn't the only new watch Piaget is showing at SIHH. The Altiplano Scrimshaw features a dial made from fossilized mammoth ivory that is then engraved with a map of the Eastern Hemisphere using traditional scrimshaw techniques. Each dial takes 65 hours to produce and these watches really are unique little works of art. 2 OF 15 The Altiplano Scrimshaw starts simply enough – a 38mm Altiplano case in either white or pink gold with an in-house 400P ultra-thin calibre. While these are admirable as-is, this watch is all about the special dial. A piece of preserved mammoth ivory (approximately 40,000 years old) is shaped into a dial that comes in around 1.7mm thick. Been a busy week for me. Two watches in (also bought a Rolex Explorer I), one traded. I picked this up at a good price. I wanted a new chrono, and decided the chrono colt II was the one. I really like it. It's my only quartz watch, which means it's ready to go when I am. First pic of it. Nice to be back in the Breitling fold again.
Does anyone know where and how to get one? AD request hasnt been fulfilledand Ofrie just stated they dont think they can get it and cancelled the order. Wondering if anyone has a source or one for sale. Thanks
Hi allGiven the current state of things with those impossible waiting lists and growing frustration from buyers it still amazes me that Rolex wont increase the price of the GMT massively to curb demand. Cant offer any detailed sensitivity study on it but id say 20k USD for the new Pepsi and they'd still be able to sell them all while not making it insanely hard and annoying to procure. What do you think? Would a pricelist of 20k put you off from buying a Pepsi?
