Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph Ref. 5980 Watch
New Patek Philippe watches for 2010 didn't exactly make me jump for joy, but I did like the two new additions to the Nautilus collection. No new movements, but new implementations in the Nautilus cases. Here is the Nautilus Chronograph (ref. 5980 in steel and 5980R in gold), and I also liked the Nautilus Annual Calendar Ref. 5726 that I wrote about here. What I like about the layout of the Patek Philippe Caliber CH 280520 C is that is it is a 12 hour chronograph that looks like a watch with only a subsidiary seconds dial (more or less) - and is still easy to read. Long story short, I decided to step it up another notch today. I wanted another high quality watch to go with the Oris. It came down to a pre-owned Rolex datejust and a new Omega SMP 2255.80. After some deliberation, I thought the Omega was the watch for me. I called the local AD's, only one had the watch in stock, but was over an hour away. After placing the call last night, I was given the price of $1657 for the Omega. I figured that was fair enough, so I loaded up the family and drove there today to purchase the watch.I arrived at the jeweler to find out there were several Omegas there, but not the one I wanted. After about a 10 minute search, and massive confusion, it turned up. The rep I talked to put it behind the counter without my name on it, in hopes I'd show up.I tried it on, really liked it, and asked that they double check the price. The guy working (different from the rep I talked to the previous day) said it would be $1955. I told him that was a couple hundred buck

Finally the 5167a is mine
Yesterday I became the proud owner of this wonderful watch. I have owned Rolexes over the years and currently have the SD4k and SS Daytona. Both great pieces, but I always found myself looking at the Patek forum and pictures/threads of the 5167a and 5711 in particular and I have always been drawn to the Aquanaut- preferring it due to its tropical strap and more understated, casual/sporty look. I tried one on a year ago at a Patek event and loved it, but didn't get one at that stage as I was concerned about the 'durability' in terms of scratches etc that I thought might be an issue for me as I like my watches as mint as possible (bit OCD). However I have never been able to get the 5167 out of my mind and more recently been feeling the SD and Daytona a bit on the flash side (I went into a shop the other day and the young salesman called out - is that a Rolex your wearing Sir?).
