Hands-On with the Melbourne Portsea Heritage
Almost one year ago I had the pleasure of reviewing the Melbourne Watch Company's Portsea models. A play on Marine chronometers, these nautically themed watches had great style, unique elements, a cool movement with calendar complications and a great price. They were, and still are, one of my favorite casual watches under $1,000. By taking a classic style and adding some modern elements, namely a layered dial that utilizes ceramic discs, they created something very successful and very wearable.To follow up the first series, Melbourne has taken the interesting approach of making a more stripped down and therein more affordable version with the Portsea Heritage. My New Steinhart Triton 30 ATM Has Arrived
I ordered it last Thursday and received it late yesterday. Excellent service from Gnomonwatches in Singapore.Some initial comments:Styling is quite unlike anything else I've seen. Quality of fit and finish are outstanding, as is typical of Steinhart. For me ( 7 1/4 inch wrist ) the watch wears large at 45mm by 56 mm, and I am already at the last position on the strap.The strap itself is 24mm wide and 4mm thick and quite stiff as it comes new. The bracelet ( sold separately ) will be along in a day or two so I'll follow up with photos when it is fitted. The 31.5mm diameter, flat crystal is slightly above the height of the bezel, and the bezel itself is the same finished stainless steel as the case, and completely flat. So the susceptibility to bezel scratching is somewhat increased.For me the overall look is one of understated elegance. I see myself wearing this watch in most any situation. Hey,My first day here was pretty interesting. Apart from the the sightseeing and drinking spree in the night, I visited a handful of watch dealers - both showrooms and pre-owned dealers and I was BLOWN away with the amount of high end brands that I saw on display. Rolex, AP, VC, PP, A.Lange....they were all there! I was drooling throughout:DOfcourse, this trip was made for a reason My brother picked up his grail watch...a Rolex Submariner 14060M (no date)He's been ecstatic ever since.Pics to come, when I get back.

I would like to know your opinions...
I was watching a thread that had the title: What is your favorite Rolex? Of course I did not see the 130 responses but by making a general look I do not see any Oyster Perpetual or Datejust the two in their different sizes. I've been seeing for a while that more than a Rolex Forum this is a Rolex Sports Watches Forum. What happens with the other models? Do not like them or would not buy them?For this reason, will it be the shortage or the surcharge for sports models?And this I see a long time ago, I have almost 1100 posts. I would like to know your opinions. Thanks friends.
