Did you look up at the sky last night? If not, you just missed a totally amazing lunar eclipse. It was not just any eclipse – it was a complete lunar eclipse with a super moon, or perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system, as the astronomers like to call it. Of course a syzygy – alignment of the sun, the earth, and the moon – happens every new and full moon, but to have an eclipse when the full moon is at its closest to the Earth is something that will not happen again until October 8, 2033. For the occasion of what is also referred to as a blood moon, HODINKEE sent journalist Mr. Anders Modig to moon-phase, moon-face maestro Stepan Sarpaneva, the independent watchmaker based in Helsinki, Finland. Aquanaut 5167A - Stopping?
I've owned my 6167A for nearly a year now. (Purchased new.) When I'm not wearing it, it sits in a winding box. Sometimes over night. Sometimes for a few days. More often than not, when I go back into the winding box I find that it's stopped. Until recently, I've shrugged it off, figuring that maybe the box isn't rotating enough to keep it going. But, when I pull the watch and wind it: (i) it takes a while - I'd estimate at least 30 seconds - to get going; (ii) then it may not stay going; and (iii) for the first half hour or so that I'm wearing it, I notice that it stops and starts. My initial reaction is that maybe I'm just not hand winding it enough. I've not experienced similar issues w/ any of my other high end watches - AP, Breguet, Rolex, VC. So it's kind of frustrating me.Any thoughts/similar experiences? Do 1 year old stopped PPs w/ "simple" movements require a lot of handwinding? Or does this sound unusual and should I run it in for service?Thanks in advance.

Excellent move John. I always hated that ProBoards board.It was never very friendly to me.Anyway. Here's to me hopefully contributing more than I have in the past.I've got three watches incoming and I hope to get off my butt and actually review at least one of them.

Newest of 2011 - Planet Ocean
After much debate, I decided to go with the 42.5 - I like the proportions of the dial better than the 45.5. I almost went 45, but aesthetically, I like this one. Something about the size of the minute markers to the negative space on the dial make me like the smaller dial better. And it fits better - who am I kidding. I also put them both next to a DateJust and the 45 made the DJ smaller than I had hoped - I still want a SS DJ, if you can't tell.And I like the matte dial - I always have. I like it better than the LM version, too.Let me know what you think...No unboxing - I don't have that kind of patience.And last - the wrist shot. You can see why I didn't go 45 - my wrists just can't do this one like a Panerai. Those fit - this at 45 didn't.Thanks for looking and thanks for all the earlier comments.Rob
