You can't talk about the Helson Skindiver without talking about the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. This isn't just because it is essentially a replica (aesthetically speaking) of the original Fifty Fathoms, it is because the Fifty Fathoms is amongst the most important watches of the 20th century. [/sarcasm]cgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_4535wt_1167Yes, Longines prices are starting to creep up a bit when you combine the price of gold's rise with a small resurgence in the brand's popularity. But that is a ridiculously INSANE price for that watch!!! The saddest part is I think maybe it's a caliber 50x - not a true in-house Longines movement but a refinished Record caliber 1955 or 1958 depending on exactly which 50x it is. Longines had acquired Record in 1961 so technically it could be called one of their movements but it's not nearly as refined as the 34x or 35x series. Even if that watch DID have one of the higher end movements that's STILL a crazy asking price! Know what the best part is? "WE BELIEVE THIS WATCH MAY BE NEW-OLD-STOCK BUT NOT 100% SURE." Oh yeah, it's "MINTY" alright! Hey, at least the listing doesn't say "Just serviced!".

Incoming!!! Unexpected Retro Edition
Stopped by to visit my parents after leaving work today, and was given a couple older watches that belonged to my Grandfather. Snapped some quick pics, so they're not that great, but they'll work for now.The first two have got 1970's written all over them, but the last one is somewhat interesting. I'd be curious to learn more about all of them (info, approximate age, etc.) Any help is appreciated....Watch #1.Timex Digital on what appears to be a two tone, simulated crocodile skin, metal Speidel stretch band. Yeah baby...Watch #2...Seiko Quartz / Digital combo...on stainless steel "Flexon" strap.Crazy thing...these watches have been in a box for years. When I was first handed the Seiko, it was ticking right along, and the digital readout was on. I pulled out the crown to set the time, and it stopped. Must have been too much for the old battery to handle. :)

Parnis toubillon automatic--incoming!!
I just bagged an NIB Parnis automatic with a Seagull toubillon movement. Price? Ridiculously low (under $71 shipped). I believe this is the same movement Larry Magan of Sturhling Time uses in the toubillons he is hawking on ShopNBC for over $800.All speculation aside, can anyone here comment on Parnis watches w/ Seagull automatic movements? I'm hoping mine at least works okay. Then I can sit back, and toss popcorn at the screen next time Larry and Corona Gorda start up the machine about their $800 plus Swiss/Chinese toubillons
