I wanted to share this story with you all about my father¡¯s 1675 Rolex GMT Master. In 1966, my dad was drafted into the army at the tender age of 20 during the Vietnam War. After going to Fort Dix NJ for basic training he was sent down to Fort Lee Virginia to receive special training for a new computer system called the NCR 500 which, as he describes it, was a computer the size of a small room. It was the newest technology at the time, to track army supplies. The option he was given was to take the assignment and get shipped off to Vietnam to run these computers or don¡¯t take the assignment, get shipped off to Vietnam anyway and get put into infantry. As an educated man he choose the former. He took his time in training and excelled, moving up the ranks from corporal then to sergeant in nine months time.
