hi timefreaks,i found this forum researching some lum-tecs, and thought i would say hello. i'm a knifenut, but have always liked nice watchs, though nothing too grand.i've been a regular on bladeforums for a while and more recently the usn.1. bathys 100 fathoms quartz, a month new, i love this watch.2. hamilton khaki auto, about ten years old i think. 3. tag heuer 1000, about 20 years old, needs a new battery.4. citizen orca.knife is a strider duane dywer custom sng w/ rex121 blade steel and carbon fiber scale:a few of my other favorite things:strider sng hard chrome:andrew demko custom ad10, yuna assassin:busse combat meaner street le #149:background is a saddleback leather mousepad. i'm planning on getting either an oris big crown or lum-tec. i really like the m30, m23, and m38. can't decide which to get. i know, get both, right?? thx for viewing, and i'm looking forward to a new forum to explore. btw, my forum name is the same everywhere, so for those of you i already kn

Hey, guys, noob here, Bryan is my name :) I've been perusing, and reading this site for a few years, finally just joined. Don't own a ton of watches, they are basically way down on my personal "hobby" list (i'm heavy into muscle cars, vintage comic books, and 45mm Knights and Castle collectibles) but do greatly enjoy timepieces, and those that I do personally own. I simply love passion, and knowledge, relating to ANY collecting hobby, and find these boards quite informative. Has the Panerai bubble burst?
In the last few years Panerai has grown from a cult brand to a mainstream one and now produces so many models and variations, even a hardcore collector and enthusiast such as myself cannot even keep up. I love the little details that Panerai has done from year to year and liked how they produced limited numbers of pieces which were all rather unique in their own right (Panerai 127, 232, 249, 36 etc to name a few). These pieces were sought after because of its availability but also its unique look and history.Fast forward to today and many of the guys I know that used to have every Panerai under the sun including all the different variations have started to dump their collection as too many models started looking alike and Panerai didn't seem to stick to their core models, designs and heritage. So, I am killing time in Shreve today waiting for a watch to be pressure tested a few stores over...I'm wearing my 372 and I ask to try on a couple of watches including a PAM 25...the salesman (also sporting a 25) says, hold on, I've got a great deal for you. Knowing Shreve doesn't negotiate I have my doubts...but he walks back with a brand new (though M series) 305 and says that they are offering the watch at 30% off. I was flabbergasted...what do you think? Buy it?
