Breitling A2432212/G571 wrist watches news:
Sometimes I feel that my vintage watch collection is more of a dog pound, compared to the rare breeds and grand champion show watches I see here. I hope you don't mind if I take up the forum bandwidth with some of my loved rescue watches from time to time. I think I'm doing it not to show off but to prove to myself and maybe other beginners that you don't need to start out in this hobby by collecting perfect multi-hundred dollar examples. I have many watches that I love to wear and keep running that show their hard long history in all of their scratches and warts. They have proved they were used and useful tools by their appearance and connect me to the people that wore them every day and the people that built them with such care that they still work today. Here is a Waltham 6/0-c that I can't bear to part out. It came to me with a lug bent so badly that the back wouldn't stay on. The dial was stained. I straightened it up and tried to even out the "patina" on the dial and I wear it at
Has anyone here had any experience with Rufus Gerard watches? They have a banner on a different watch forum, but now they have a full page ad in the Feb 2008 WatchTime.Seems like a silly name, and the website is kinda cheesy. This Rufuslin company says that it is the sole distributor of Rufus Gerard, Botta (allegedly from Germany) and Angular Momentum (allegedly Swiss).I put this out not because I am interested in such watches (I do not have the intention of ever owning such a watch), but just that it seems kinda scammy. This Rufus claims to have a Japanese movement and they want to sell it for $8,800.00 USD. They also say:"Rufus Gerard. A distinguished Canadian name in the Swiss-dominated global watch industry." *ahem*I am Canadian. I am proud of that. But.....
I have decided that I am most likely going to get a 5960 for my next piece and I am trying to decide on a used P versus the 1A. In terms of general appearance there are aspects I like of both. My main concern is which sundial is easiest to read. SPecifically, it seems like the minute and hour markers are switched. For me visualization of the minute marker is most important. It is hard based on photos--- size and light etc to know which is more readable. I have never seen both side by side. The minute marker on the P version looks easier to read based on the numbers being on the larger circumference but there is more contrast to the numbers on the steel versionCan anyone give some insight.??
Hello TRF:I bought a Pelagos from a member here and need one more link for the bracelet to fit comfortably. Are there any ADs that will sell me just one link that you would recommend? Happy to call and give them whatever requisite info they want. My local ones here are being a bit difficult and a lot of hoops to source one link.Thanks.
Hey guys. Booked a trip to Cartagena in May. My girl and I have been lusting after photos of this place for quite some time.Anyone ever been?My question is, I hear mixed reviews on rolexes when travelling. Some people say to always carry one high valued item with you at all times in case you need to quickly trade it to get yourself out of a bindOthers say avoid avoid avoidWould love to hear your experiences / opinions?Planning on wearing a sub for the tripCheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
