- This is a decent watch and I've had a couple but each time I'm disappointed in the band, which is a tad too short. My wrist measures 7 1/4 so another notch would be more comfortable.

The sapphire crystal case-back shows off the enchanting details of the movement, including such decorative elements as graceful Cotes de Geneve, perlage and satine soleil finishes. Ok,you have browsed, and you have lurked, now you want to sell the 'stamp' collection and start collecting those lovely mechanical watches, that 'tick, look and feel' like a Rolls Royce. But where do you start 'ones' collection.My advice is chose an area and certainly in the beginning stick to it, rushing around like a 'headless' chicken may award you a lot of watches, but in the end will you 'love' them? If not, you may have chosen poorly.collecting can be split into some nice catagories, and within those catagories a great range of watches can be purchased both easily and cheaply.So first set a budget, maybe $150 or $300, but stick to it. Buy the best you can afford.Next choose a catagory, I list some ideas here where good basic and relatively cheap watches can be bought.1) Early Watches from 1912 to 1929. Source for gray lizard or sharkskin 22mm strap for this watch...
Title says almost everything I want to know, except that I don't want to spend more on a strap than I did on the watch! I just don't think the rubber strap that came on it does it justice, and would like to try it with a gray lizard or shark. I normally don't care for lizard, but for some reason I seem to think one would look good on this. Maybe it was seeing the lizard strap that came on the Android Double Excapement that I bought, then sold before even wearing it! I just made too many purhases lately and had to let a few go. Anyway, here's the watch for which I'd like to find a nice replacement strap. I'm open to other suggestions as well, but no NATO. I like the idea of NATO, but it just seems to me that over time they will scratch up case backs. If I get a watch without a display back, maybe I'll give one a try. Daytona vs AP Royal Oak
I have my eye on the 116500LN but will need to pay grey market prices or alternatively an AP RO 15400ST black dial.It terms of functionality I¡¯d likely use the date more than a chrono. Aesthetically I love both, my wife prefers the uniqueness of the AP.Given the grey market prices on the 116500LN i feel opting for the RO makes more sense in terms of finishing I will receive for the price but I¡¯m still conflicted.Opinions welcome, particularly if someone owns both!
