Looking for suggestions for thread colors. I have waxed linen in off white but was thinking some other non-standard colors might be fun...For the PVD case:A very distressed and soft strap:A new very soft, but thick, oil tan with a nice patina:Sent from some puny little keyboard using my big fat fingers on Tapatalk while holding a glass of good Scotch. Two ? Unique Hamiltons; A vintage and a not so vintag Education and comments please.
I have two Hamiltons I would like to get some information or feedback on; A) I believe a 1926 wristwatch. 17 jewel 986A, Serial Number 2188832. The casing is "Keystone Victory 10K Rolled Gold Plate 109 8856" . What is unique (or not) about this face is the lack of a second hand. I have seen very few watches circa this time period without a second hand. B) I believe it is a 1973-1975 wristwatch. Again, a unique feature is the position of the date and day display. Any comments would be welcome. Thank you.

Why is the Submariner viewed as superior to the Seamaster?
I have not owned a Submariner yet, but I will one day. I do own a Seamaster Pro now though. I have handled and worn many a Submariner and to me at least it does not feel like its a $5K+ watch. It is very well built, but feels cheap in its bracelet mostly, and feels light to me. My SMP on the other hand is built like a tank. The bracelet is many times better than the Rolex bracelet. Im aware that Rolex uses a completely in house built movement, which contributes to the price of a Sub I am sure. At the same time I have trouble believing it is head and shoulders above a Swiss ETA based movement which becomes the Omega Ca. 1120 in my SMP. I firmly believe it is Rolex's control of their dealers and marketing, along with annual price increases on new watches that keeps the prices of the pre owned Subs so high. I actually had a guy with a Sub talk down to me yesterday when he saw my Omega. He said Heh you have an Omega, I a Rolex Submariner, a real watch. Then he proceeded to shove it in my f

16710 crown with double dash??
Sorry if this has been asked and answered previously, but I can't find a thread link. I am looking at a 16710 W series and noticed that the crown has a double dash under the coronet. What does that signify as I thought there was only one dash to represent a twin-lock crown system?A friend thinks it might have something to do with the type of metal or it could be the lowest of the water proof ratings, eg: 2 dots is on the gmt¡¯s 3 dots is Subs and Seadwellers Appreciate someone helping me clarify this.

Vintage Rolex service
Would appreciate opinions. I have an early 1680 gold sub with early style raised crown on band. I wear it regularly, 5-10 days monthly. Serviced 7-8 years ago in NY at Rolex. At that time they suggested some work on the band that I deferred. About 20 years ago a rivet came out while wearing immediately after service. Luckily, the watch didn¡¯t fall but was sent back to NY to repair. Now they are telling me the band needs some overhaul, more than just polish, but I hate to loose a good deal of gold with major work and subsequent polish. As it¡¯s becoming highly collectible what should I do? Thank you.
