Hello everyone at Watch Talk Forums, 'ere be my first post.First, thanks to all the regulars here for making this a great resource and a friendly community. I stumbled upon this forum while looking to purchase a new watch, of course. My Seiko Kinetic watch had to go to the service centre to get it's 2001 era capacitor replaced with a Li-ion cell, as well as a general overhaul - it was 8 years old.My sensible side wanted to go to Argos and get a cheap digital watch to wear while waiting for the repair to be done, and to subsequently use as a beater (picking up the lingo already...!). However, another side of me thought, "you just got a nice staff bonus, go spend some of it on yourself"! My criteria was just to get some kind of ana-digi watch as these have always fascinated me for some reason. A proper "smart" one though, where the analog and digital faces are synced automatically. Long story short, I ended up getting this Citizen Skyhawk AT, which has lots of toys on it, as a bonu
Same question I had on Watchtech but no replies yet , you may wiil.Is it possible to identify the hand finishing vs machine made polish on watchcases ?basically the final polishing done by hand at all manufacturers or just in the high end segment?May you can tell what to look for to judge properly ,in my book hand finishig allows tiny misperfections however most high end pieces i ve handled seems to be perfect except under 10x magnification i ve seen small how to call ¡°misalignment¡±i wouldn t call those a flaws rather the human touch, but it was mostly on the case ,on the movement even under high magnification for me hard to find the difference.Cld you pls comment, thanks
Around 8 years ago I first saw the green Submariner. I know that green is Rolex's brand color, but I thought the watch was somewhat of a joke. It never appealed to me at all. It never appealed to anyone I knew. If anything, a couple of my friends made fun of the watch, on their own volition, without any prompting.About 7 years later, with supply low, and then demand going high, so many people, including myself, began to appreciate the appeal of the watch. I was seriously considering cutting the Swatch, and my minor connections in my metropolitan area allowed for this. However, every single person that saw the watch, including my wife, dear friends, co-workers, strangers, every single person with whom I spoke either politely described why they disliked it, to outright laughed and shared how ugly they thought it was.I'm only saying this because I think it's nice for us to not only partially depend on each other's opinions, but to seek other opinions as well, especially to the people with
It's over a year since it's intro and it's getting stale; thinking of something in PM. What would you trade these in for???
