Hello. New to the forum. I have spent a few days reading current and past posts. I am very happy to have found this forum as I have learned alot of information about Rolex watches that I never knew. This is my current situation. I have been in love with the "Pepsi" GMT Master II watch since I was a kid.The watch is gorgeous! I grew up watching my grandfather wear one every day of his life since I was 10 years old. I know that Rolex makes perfect watches that last a lifetime and that is what I am looking for. I am now in my low 30s and its time that I buy one for myself. I live in South florida (fort lauderdale) and a few days ago I began calling some AD's around my area. There are quite a few AD's in the miami and fort lauderdale area (around 15 total). However, to my surpise, I found out that the "Pepsi" model has been discontinued. I really wanted to own one of these watches and I was very upset once I heard this. I do understand that I can buy a preowned one, but I would rather buy
When I saw that Crown & Buckle now stock Cape Cod polishing cloths I finally decided to get some more (mine have pretty much worn out) and add some of their straps at the same time. C&B seem to have a good selection of styles and sizes, so I thought it might be an inexpensive way to brighten up/change the look of some of my watches. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say....I put an order in for the Cape Cods, plus a 20mm Nato, 20mm Anthracite leather, and a 24mm rubber. Here are the results:First of all, the order was placed, and a short time later (I was impressed it wasn't very long to wait considering they had to travel half way around the world) the package arrived:Inside, all was in order - time to play....The three strapsThe hardest part was matching the straps to the watches - I had sat down at the computer one night and written a list of what straps would look good with what watches, but of course it's hard to tell until you have the straps there in front of you
The big brown truck pulled up yesterday with a new Squale 101-ATM. This one came on a blue rubber strap, which is quite nice but an OEM mesh bracelet is on its way from Squale. Here are a couple of photos more to come when I get a chance...
One of the joys of a job that involves travel, even just locally, is the opportunity to check pawn shops. Until recently, when I found this forum, I only looked for tuning fork Accutrons and I have found some bargains. This forum has broadened my world but I've still got a lot to learn. Today I found a Mont Blanc that could be bought for $75, probably less. There's not a lot of info about Mont Blanc but fakes are advertised. How would I know if it is a fake? Any help will be appreciated.
