Cartier W6920003 wrist watches news:
The tourbillon hasn't exactly become ubiquitous, but there's an argument to be made that it may be, just a bit, a victim of its own success. To put it more exactly, the tourbillon may be a victim of the success of modern precision manufacturing methods, which have made it possible to produce tourbillon wristwatches that can be priced almost unbelievably inexpensively, relative to the prices the complication used to command. However, if there is one almost universally valid truism in mechanical horology nowadays, it's that it's not so much what you do as how you do it, and how Jaeger-LeCoultre did tourbillons – and continues to do them – is a microcosm of the evolution of the tourbillon, and the hopes we might have for its future. On last week's visit to the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture in Le Sentier, we got a chance to look deeper than usual into what the tourbillon meant, and could mean in years to come. 1 OF 6 Jaeger-LeCoultre's colle
Hi, I've recently came into the market for a nice classy watch to wear with a suit, and in the end pretty much decided on an IWC - somewhat lowkey (than Rolex/Omega), but very respectable brand. I want to pay less for the brand and more for the quality. So in the end I've decided on the IWC Portuguese Chrono Automatic with the steel case and gold lettering inside. I went to the Tourneau Timemachine (AD) in NYC and they wanted to charge me the retail $6800 and offered the $500 buckle to buckle 3yr warranty (warranties against breakage, new strap every 6 months, etc.). The thing is, I've been researching that watch for a while and I can get it online for about $4800 (Jomashop), and most retailers sell it for around $5500. Why should I pay upwards of $2000 to get it from an AD? I read here that IWC doesn't have a lot of ADs and doesn't discount much, but I seem to see it everywhere on the internet for less. Where do those non ADs get their products? I know there's a risk of a fake,
FedEx dropped this off yesterday...
Feeling extremely lucky. I was kind of undecided on what to get for my next watch. Was seriously considering an AP RO Chrono. Almost bought one, but after looking around, doing more research on TRF, etc., I came to my senses and really started to fall in love with the 5711. I quickly realized it was one of the most coveted and difficult pieces to acquire. I just wanted to see one in person and try it on. Went to several PP dealers, the boutique in Tiffany in NYC, even the watch guys on 47th St. (who basically have everything available), but couldn't find any. In fact, couldn't even find a Nautilus of any model. They are just not in stock. Didn't matter, 5711, 5712, etc. Just wanted to try it on. Eventually did see and try on a 5726A Annual calendar on strap. That was the only Nautilus anyone had! Basically, I had to order it sight unseen. If so many people are wanting it, it must be good! So I inquired with my local AD and got the there's five year waiting list routine.
Be great to see some pics ...Thanks
