Two Vintage Breguet Pocketwatches Added to the Brand’s Collection of Historic Timepieces
Montres Breguet added to its private collection of historically significant watches, when brand president and CEO Marc A. Hayek acquired two important lots at a Christie’s Geneva auction last year: the Breguet no. 4039, a half-quarter repeating watch with an off-centered hour dial and date indication, and the extremely rare Breguet Tourbillon no. 1176.The first watch, the Breguet no. 4039, was originally sold to the Duke of Berwick on September 30, 1825, and went for a final auction price of? 70,000 Swiss francs at Christie’s. It is a remarkable example of one of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s extra-slim repeating timepieces made “sur les principles des chronom¨¨tres” (on the principles of chronometers). The Breguet No. 4039 has a case made of 18K gold and is outfitted with the “Caliber 21”'” movement, with an additional complication for the date indication (in a window at 6 o’clock). It has an engine-turned silver dial with Roman numerals

Platinum Elgin pocket watch
I guess this is the forum for Elgin and Gruen collectibles? Predepression time, before 1929, watch cases were elaborate and relatively expensive. There were many Swiss platinums, but only a few by Americans. Here is an odd one by Elgin. About same age as me. Dingy looking platinum on 14K gold. Not sure if it is, but dial does not have the usual silver degradation. I have heard that platinum appearance wiill improve with polishing but not with polish normally used for silver and gold. Actually the case is by Wadsworth that did a great variety of fancy cases for most U.S. watch producers. This one actually 1921; 10 yrs. older than me. The 14k white gold with silver dial is Keystone(Hamilton) case Made just before Hamilton bought Illinois. Shown just after cleaning with tarnish remover.

Help with Longines
Esteemed and fellow watch fans.Noticed a friend of mine wearing this vintage Longines. When I asked him about it he said it was his fathers but didnt know the year of manufacture He was guessing some time in the 50's??? With that said, if there's anyone out there who knows what would be the year of manufacture for this watch, please let me know. Also posted this on the Longines Forum...Sorry the pic focused on my pants instead of the watch!!!

Speedy Chrono Reset Issue
Hi guys, I have a year old speedy pro and two times in the last day when I reset the chrono, the 6 o'clock counter does not reset to zero. The first time this happened the reset was about four minutes ahead of zero, but it reset to zero upon restarting the chrono and resetting again. The second time the reset brought it to about three minutes before zero, and a restart and reset did not immediately fix it, I had to run the chrono for a half hour or so and then reset to get it to zero. Anybody ever gave a similar experience? I have voided my warranty (dial conversion), so I'd rather not service it unless I know there is a problem. Thanks in advance!!
